Everest Expedition Closed After Nepal EarthQuake
After 2 big earthquakes in Nepal on April 26 and May 12, all the permit for Everest Expedition has been cancelled for a year. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake brought a big avalanche in the everest base camp killing 17 people and damaging the routes and major infrastructures.
According to Department of Tourism of Nepal the continuous aftershocks has affected very large area around base camp, which is one of the reason to cancel the biggest adventure in the world.
Highly technical Icefall doctors couldn’t repair the climbing routes. Tourism Department also mentioned that their is no possibility of starting the expedition again for this year.
Last year also the expedition was closed after death of 16 guides and porters due to avalanche.
Since the expedition was closed last year, there were more than 1500 in the base camp this year for climbing the highest peak in the world, which is highest in number of all 65 years.
All the climbers have gone back home after the biggest disaster in the history of country.
April-June-July are considered to be the best season for Everest Climbing. The major impact will be on the economy of country as Everest was one of the major reason and popular destination for tourists.
