Hike for Nepal – Kakani to Shivapuri Hiking
While the international media portrays Nepal as the state in totally devastated condition due to 7.8 magnitude earthquake on April 25th, a group of innovative and energetic youth hiked all the way from KAKANI to SHIVAPURI and finally arrive at JHORA Mahankal to show the whole world that Nepal is safe to visit and convey the positive message about visiting Nepal
Global Holidays Adventure Pvt. Ltd (one of the leading adventure company Nepal) and Youth Thinkers Society (a local NGO) hiked together to pass on the message about the real situation of Nepal and scope of tourism that is alive here. Samsher Parajuli, Surya Bd. Thapa and Mukesh Rajbanshi represented Global Holidays Adventure and Kshitiz Bhattarai, Utsav Bhetuwal, Swagat Bhetuwal, Bibhuti Balla were representing Youth Thinkers Society. The team also included 3 foreigners- 2 from India; Keshav Gupta and Darshan, 1 from USA; Wilson Lin and other 3 volunteers; Rajendra Sharma, Basant Rijal and Rajesh Khadka.
The team reserved a micro-bus from Balaju Bipass at 7 in the morning and reached Kakani where they served themself with prayers, warm-up and light breakfast. The real hiking began mapping the route through Shivapuri National Park to Tarkeshwor to the final destination Jhor, Mahankal. Walking for about 30 kms in the moderate hiking route they carried the national flag with pride and charm. The route full of flora-faunna and springs not only refreshed their mind but also the feeling of being safe and travelling safe in Nepal. The impressive thing was local support. Locals who suffered from the earthquake were courageous and very positive about the initiation by youths.
The motto of hiking despite of very busy youthful schedule was to show the world that Nepal is safe to travel. Its not true that Nepal has been devastated totally. Nepal is ready and will always stand up to welcome the world.
Only few monumental places and few trekking routes, listed below, are closed for a while
1: Mount Everest Expedition has been closed for a year. No permit for climbing Everest for a year.
2: Langtang National Park and Langtang trekking route is affected. So they are closed.
3: Kathmandu Durbar Square has been closed for renovation. All the museums and heritage sites in square are locked for maintenance.
4: Tatopani – Khasa – ManSarover trekking route is closed for a while. The roads are blocked due to earthquake and the trekking route will be open very soon.
5: 100 meter road in Arniko Highway between Kausaltar- Lokanthali station is damaged but is absolutely good in condition after maintenance.
Altogether 31 renowned trekking routes are safe and ready to hit with footprints. 8 National Parks, 1 hunting reserve and 6 Conservation areas are safe and untouched by Earthquake. Pokhara is on so as Chitwan and Lumbini and all the tourist destinations.
Above all these, Nepalese are ON, the warm welcoming hearts are ON. Now the world must turn themselves ON to travel Nepal.
