Dolpo Region trekking is one of the most popular trekking which lies in the western part of Nepal, situated behind the Dhaulagiri. These high mythical valleys are not open until 1989. It offers to see the Shey Phoksundo lake which is the main attractions of this trekking. The east and south of it is bordered by the Dhalagiri and Churen Himal ranges and to the west by Jumla district. Trekking to Lower Dolpo offers an opportunity to meet the people and their lifestyle in very authentic form, almost untouched and unexplored.There is a chance to see ancient unique Monastery like Shey Gompa (the crystal Monastery) which offers an important pilgrimage for the many Tibetans and isolated villages, rich wildlife, reliable Buddhist monastery and wonderful lakes.
The Dolpo region Treks starts from Juphal and follows the valley of Barbung Khola through Dunai and Tarakot. The trail now heads towards the north to the Tarap valley. The two days trek up the Tarap valley to Dho Tarap is realtively difficult as you come across 4000 meters. From Dho Tarap, to highest are traversed to reach Ringmo and Phoksundo lake. From Ringmo it takes another two or three days to retract the trail back to Juphal passing through the villages of Sumduwa, Sepla and Hanke. The convenient access is by air to Juphal airstrip, which is at 4 hours away from Dunai, the district headquarters of Dolpo. There are regular flights to Dunai from Nepalgunj.For those who prefer to trek throughout may start from Dhorpatan which in turn can be reached from Pokhara or Tansen.The trek can be completed between 20-24 days depending upon the weather and side walks.

Flight Delay in Nepalganj and Jhupal
For upper Dolpo trekking often twin Otter is the primary mode of transport form to Jhupal. The flight is depend on the weather. Sometime flight (to and from Jhupal) may be canceled due to the bad weather condition of Mountain or technical problems. In such case Global Holidays Adventure will charter a helicopter to ensure your international flight.
The cost of helicopter charter is not included in your entire tour cost. So you can directly pay to our Kathmandu Office. We accept cash, traveler's cheques, or credit card (Master Card, Visa Card, National Card only). You will be given a receipt upon payment so That you may claim the insurance. Helicopter Rescue
While traveling in the Himalaya you may suffer for the various health problems, injuries and even the altitude sickness. Hence you have to prepare before upcoming destination is this mountain land. Make that the policy of the insurance company provides should cover the process of giving you the service of Helicopter rescue from the mountains in case of Altitude Sickness or other accidents during your trip.
Day 01: Arrival day in Kathamndu Tribuwan Airport (1300 m).

Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing and trek preparation.
Today, After morning breakfast the day will start to our guided trip to cultural world heritage sites in Kathmadnu valley; the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, the world biggest Boudhanath stupa and visit Swoyambhunath stupa also known as monkey temple. After exploring the surrounding areas visit historical kathmandu Durbar square with temple, unique architectures and Kumari (living Goddess). Evening pre-trip discussion and introduce with our fellow trekking staff for your adventure trip. Overnight at hotel with BB basis.
Day 03 : Fly to Nepalganj from Kathmandu – 1 hr Flight.
One hour Nepalganj flight will give you the good views of Himalayas. After arrival at Nepalganj you will transfer to Hotel and visit local Market. Nepalganj is 3 Km near from the border of India.
Day 04: Fly to Juphal (2450 M) trek to Dunai (2100 M) 3 hrs walking.
After 40 minute flight to Juphal by Twin Otter we start our Trekking. Three hours walking we reach the Dunnai. Sometime the flight to Juphal can canceled due to the weather and other technical problem. Overnight at Tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 05: Trek to Ankhe (2700 M ) 6 hrs walking.
Fromn Duni at first you cross the bridge and turn west. At the confluence of the Thuri Bheri and Suil Gad rivers you turn to the north and follow the Suli Gad. You cross many villages where you can see the agriculture product. Finally continue the track the river and the eventually you reach at Hanke, Which is also the entrance place for the Phoksundo National Park. Finally you arrive your camp. Overnight ar Tent Camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 06: Trek to Renje (3170 M) 7 hrs walking.
Today walking is little difficult due the narrow way, cliff face, and rivers where we have to cross by the local bridge. Also it provide the beautiful landscape of Dolpo. We follow the SULIGAD River and make a camp on the side of the river. Overnight at Tent Camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 07: Trek to Phosundo Lake (3600 M ) 7 hrs walking.
At the starting hour the trek is easy. But from Sumdo the trail becomes very much like an incline. Climb up to a aridge 38,75 M, from where you will have the most staggering views of a 300 M waterfall, the highest in Nepal. Then through the Bank of the Phosundo Khola and picturesque settlement of Ringboche with its mud plastered mani walls. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 08: Rest day at Phoksundo Khola Lake. Explore around Phoksundo Lake. Overnight at tent camp.

Day 09: Trek to Phoksundo Khola (3500 M ) 6 hrs walking.
Today you enter the remoteness area of the Dolpo about the altitude of 4400m .And then plunge down gain to the valley bottom to enter the flood plain O fthe Phoksundo Khola and trek to your night stop at bank of the river with the green forest. Overnight at Tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 10: Trek tp Phoksundo Bhanjyang (4500m ) 7 hrs walking.
Today you have to cross some streams by the foot. So take a pair of sandals or footwear. The trail little difficult because of the narrow, rocky and cliff. On the trail unnamed mountain steam there is one old wooden bridge also. Here you take the barely discernible path to the north east up a side valley which has a cavernous look. There is no trail as such, so it is necessary to clamber over rocks and boulders and to ford a stream that rushes down the steep valley. A long climb brings you to a sheep meadow where the trail veers up a steep ravine. A hard climb to the top brings you to yet another valley where you can see the Kang La, the pass will lead you to Shey Gompa. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 11: Cross the Kang la pass (5,151 M ) and trek to Shey Gompa (4125 M.) 7 hrs walking.
To pass the Kang la it required the physically demanding, specially on the loose slate screed. It will take about 3 hours to reach the top of the Kang La. The views from the Kang la are magnificent and well worth all the hard walking. Then you down to the valley and cross the river once by the wooden bridge. Finally you arrive at Shey Gompa. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 12: Rest and exploring day at Shey Gompa.
Shey means crystal – this monastery is also known as the Crystal Mountain. The Lama of Shey resides at a red hermitage known as Tsakang Gompa which Is west of Shey. It is a monastery but a retreat. Tsakang has Been a meditation centre to many of famous lamas from Tibet.
The monastery was build 11th century, Shey is famous for the ancient Buddhist culture. In Dolpo the ancient Tibetan way of life combines animism with the teachings of Buddha. SHey Gompa stands above The confluence of Kangiunala and Yeju nala. Near the confluence there is a group of prayer mills turned by water wheels. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 13: Cross the Saldang La pass (4,785 M), and then trek to Namduna (4500 m)7hrs walking.
Today the trail is begins to Zig-Zeg over bare rocks and coarse eroded soil until it eventually bring you to to a flat spot, we will have lunch this place and move ahead. Crossing to the Saldang La pass (4785 m ) provide you a great view toward the arid landscapes of mustang and the distant snow peak of Tibet. On your trail you will visit Namjung Monastery. Like shey Namjug monastery is of the Karma-pa sect. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 14: Trek to Saldang (3900 M ) 5hrs.
Today is easy to walk. With panoramic views of mountains and beautiful landscape of Dolpo make your trail wonderful. Looking down into the valley bottom it is very evident that the people have made best use of the fertile valley as one sees the neat terraced fields showing bright patches of green and ripening crops. You ascend before going down steep slopes to the picturesque village of Salding, situated on a plateau high above the Nam Khong nala and the biggest village of the inner Dolpo area. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 15 : Trek to Sibu. (4000m) 5hrs walking.
After the Saldang we we pass through terraced fields, stupas, Chortens, heaps of mani stones and a Chaiba monastery. Namdo is The next village having Nearly four hundred inhabitants. The Namdo Monastery is located near the river bed. There is also another monastery on the top os a high cliff. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 16: Trek to Jeng La (4300 m ) 5 hrs.
Following the line of the river valley the trail is fairly easy going initially. After about two hours it is necessary to wade another stream before turning into a side valley and the rise becomes very sharp. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 17: Cross the Jeng La Pass (4900 m ) 5 hrs.
After two hour climbing you will reach the top of the Jeng la. From the top of the pass there are good views of the Dhaulagiri massif, glittering in the morning light. A rough track descends towards the Tarap valley. By the afternoon you find a green valley which leads you by a pleasant track down towards the Tarap Chu village. There are many Gompas around the village. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 18: Trek to Dho Tarap (4100 M ) hrs.
Before leaving the village you will visit Chaiba Gompa. The trail is broad and well traveled, making the going easy and there is evidence of work in the fields, where the women will be bringing in the harvest - the men are away bringing down the herds of animals for the forthcoming winter. There are many Mani walls but some of the Chortens are in a bad state of repair. The French School is just outside the village of Dho Tarap where you have your night stop. The inhabitants of this village are both Bon Po and Buddhist (Nyingmapa). In the afternoon a walk up to the Buddhist Gompa is very worthwhile. There is a resident lama who is very happy to show off his monastery and might even let you see his private Gompa and the Tankas he has made himself. Overnight at tent camp.(Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 19: Trek to Serkam (3690 m) - 7 hrs walking.
Your route follows the course of the Tarap Khola, generally downhill. You go throuth narrow gorges with the river rushing through. One may see blue sheep, marmots, yaks, sheep and goats and perhaps meet people from Dolpo trekking their flocks of sheep and goats to lower pastures for the winter. Today the trail is very narrow in some Places. You reach your overnight camp on a grassy strip by the river. Overnight at Tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 20: Trek to Khani (2,600 m) - 7 hrs. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 21: Trek to Tarakot (2300 M) - 4 hrs. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 22: Trek to Dunai (2300 m) - 5hrs. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 23: Trek to Juphal (2500 m) - 5 hrs. Overnight at tent camp. (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included).
Day 24: Fly to Kathmandu via Nepalganj.

WHAT IS A TEA HOUSE TREK ?
Tea House are local lodges where you get to eat and sleep during your trek. There are plenty of tea houses across all the trekking routes in Nepal. A tea house trek means that you get to stop and rest each day at a tea house during your trekking period. Unlike camping treks you don't have to carry food, tents and other items during a tea house trek.
Camping trek: Camping treks require us to carry tents, Kitchen gear, food and other equipments. Unlike tea house treks camping treks are more adventures.
WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR FOR TREKKING ?
In Nepal, there are two seasons which are considered prime time for trekking. These times range from Feb-May and Sep-Nov. There are places to visit during Monsoon season ( June-August), such as Mustang and Upper West part of the Annapurna Circuit, as these treks are in the "Rain Shadow" and virtually untouched by Nepal Monsoon. WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE IN NEPAL ?
Nepal is an extremely diverse country for its size. The temperature can range from extremely hot ( 37-40C) in the lower Terai regions, to negative temperatures in the northern, mountainous regions. Feb-May and Sep-Nov are prime trekking times due to the lovely climate. There is ample sun in the day time and only slightly chilly at night. Monsoon ( June-Aug) can get very hot and humid-with showers usually in the early morning and late afternoon.
WHAT TYPE OF SHAPE DO I NEED FOR THIS TRIP ?
GHA offers trekking opportunities for all every age and fitness level. Our treks are graded on difficulty level, 1 being the easiest and 5 being for advanced trekkers. The level of difficulty is based on the altitude and natural terrain of the trek. The difficulty levels for eash trek can be found on each indivisual itinerary of both our website and brochures.
IS SOMEONE GOING TO METT ME AT THE AIRPORT ?
Our airport representative will come to the airport to pick up. We will be displaying a play card Global Holidays Adventure with your name on it. You need a visa to Nepal. You can easily get a visa upon your arrival in TIA airport, Kathmandu on paying US$. 40 for a month US$. 100 for three months.
DO I HAVE PRE_DEPARTURE MEETING ?
Yes, at first, our staff will receive you at the airport and transfer to the Hotel and our tour leader will brief regarding about the trip. The briefing will cover the itinerary and introduced your trek leader.
While briefing, please bring passport, 3 copies of passport size photos, travel insurance, writing pen and notepad.
HOW DO I PAY TO GLOBAL HOLIDAYS ADVENTURE ?
After the trip confirmation you will send around 25% advance deposited by wire transfer to GHA Bank Account and remaining you can pay after your arrival by Cash or Credit Card but to pay by credit card there will be extra 4% bank service charge. Now Traveller Cheque is not acceptable as per the rule & regulation of Nepal Rastra Bank. We accept visa card, master card & National Card.
WHAT SORT OF ACCOMMODATION CAN EXPECT IN KATHMANDU AND IN TREKKING ?
In Kathmandu: Here are all kind of Hotel simple to 5* hotel. It's depends on your demand but normally in our trekking package we use standard rooms from 3* or 4* on BB Basis.
During Trekking: You will have teahouse/lodges generally provide basic clean facilities with a mattress and a quit blanket. We can offer GHA sleeping baggage if needed but it's good idea to bring your own always. We usually provide you single and double rooms as well as the occasional dormitory. And you will have twin sharing tent with matteress in camping trek.
Toilet Facilities During Trekking: On, Trek commmon toilet facilities are available at tea house. Now some teahouse have attached bathroom.
Shower Facilities: You will have hot shower in all teahouse but some place there isnot hot shower, we will provide you hot water in bucket for shower.
WHAT IS THE GROUP SIZE FOR TREK ?
There are no restrictions on the size of a group. We organize trekking to an individual as well as a group and services will be same.
IS IT POSSIBLE TOORGANIZE MY OWN PERSONAL GROUP ?
It is possible to organize your own trekking group. Simply book with us online or in one of our trekking offices in Bhagawan Baha, Thamel, Kathmandu and we will get your next Himalayan adventure sorted. You may choose to have a private group, or keep it open, in which case other travellers can join your group. We allow up to 8 people to join a group.
DO THE GUIDE AND SUPPORT STAFF SPEAK ENGLISH ?
Most of guides speak fluently English and some speak well. Some of the support staff do speak little English and some do not speak.
DO SOMEBODY CARRY OUR BACKPACK ?
Yes, Our Porters/sherpas will carry you heavy backpack and you will carry only the baypack.
WHAT IS OUR DAILY ROUTINE WHILE IN TREKKING ?
Daily Routine starting from 7 am. Wake-up 7 am, start trek before 8 after breakfast, 11:30 am to 12:30 pm lunch and trek end 3:30 to 4 pm. Time to read or nap before dinner. After dinner there is time to play cards, reflect on all the wondrous moments of your day and talk about tomorrow plan.
WHAT KIND OF FOOD CAN I EXPECT IN TREKKING ?
Most of Teahouse cook a delicious range of mostly vegerarian fare Pasta, Tuna Bakes, Noodles, Potatos, Eggs, Dalbhat, Bread, Soups, Fresh Vegetable ( Variety depends on the season) and even some desserts like Apple Pies, Pancakes and some interesting attempts at custard. You will find a lot of garlic items on the menu, eat some every day because it assists with acclimatization. YOu can always get hot chocolate, tea, coffee, hot lemon as well as soft drinks. Each day dinner and breakfast are used to take in the same lodge you spend the night. Lunch will take on the way to distination.
WHAT IS THE WEATHER AND TEMPERATURE LIKE IN TREKKING ?
Weather in the mountains is notoriously difficult to predict. At night it is generally cooler the days are generally warm. Winter ( January and February ) will be bit colder but the days can be quite beautiful and warm if the sun is out. There will be bit of snow during the month of January, February and December. It is also important to makes sure that you can stay warm and dry in just about any condition. Expert the unexpected! The temperature could be as high as 20 degree c to 15 degree c low during day time.
CAN I CHARGE MY CAMERA BATTERIES ON MY TRIP ?
These facilities will be available in most of the places in your Hotel reception by playing some service. Remember to bring your adapters!!

HOW MUCH ADDITIONAL MONEY DO I NEED PER DAY ?
In Kathmandu, you can allocate $ 15-20 for lunch, dinner and drinks. It's all depends on your spending habits. US$ 15-20 a day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolate and few drinks in Trekking.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY ?
All of our guides are trained in basic first aid and can deal with the basic ailments that may occur on trek. In the event of an emergency Global Holidays Adventure will cover initial expenses of any rescue operation. It is a condition of booking that you are adequately insured for such an events as these expenses will need to be recovered from your insurance company. In the most frequented regions there are health posts, which have been established by foreign doctors and many are staffed by overseas personnel.

Yes, GHA insures all our trekking staff including guide, cook, sherpa and porters.
IS THERE ANY COMMUNICATION WHILE WE ARE ON TREKKING ?
It is called Namaste or Namaskar. You can say the greeting in words as well as do it using a gesture. Join your palms together and bring them close to your chest and about 5to 7 inches below your chin. The word Namaste has many meanings such as Hello, How are you?, I am glad to see you, nice to meet you, good morning, etc.

In most places bottled water is readily available. If you wish to drink normal water, you need to use purifying aid, which you will need to bring with you.

This is difficult things to tell. It's up to you from your heart by looking their work and support. Tipping is not required, but a small way to show your guides and local porters thanks for their help. The level of the tip should reflect the level of personal involvement with your guide.

A trekking holiday should be about making it to the final quickly. Along your trek we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation and food.

Yes, there are many options and choice to extend your holiday before or after your main trip. Following trips are suggested for your holiday extensions.
WHAT IMMUNIZATIONS WILL I NEED ?
No vaccinations are compulsory in Himalaya but we do recommend you are covers for Diphtheria & TB, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Malaria, Typhoid, Polio and tetanus. We are recommend.
The Personal Equipment and items are individual interest & choice. The most important fact that one should keep on mind is that one should have enough clothes to tackle the cold weather in the Himalayas. The following gives you a general idea of the personal items that you can bring for the trek.
In a supported trek, heavy items are carried by porters or yaks and personal belongings that you many need for the day like money, water bottle, rain gear, Camera, sun cream & toilet paper etc. Should be carried by yourself so you are briefed to pack items in two different bags.
Global Holidays Adventure will provide complimentary water and wind proof duffel bag which you can use on the trek and is carried by porters. The duffel bag is yours to keep after the trek. you can leave your bag with your non-trek items at the hotel in Kathmandu and collect them after the trek.

Please Note: Especially for women, Tight fitting, figure-hugging clothing, such as those made with lycra can often be offensive to local. If you fell these items comfortable to wear then use it on base layer and please pack something to wear on the top of them.
