Lhasa is the capital city of Tibet the autonomous region in China. Lhasa “Land of the Gods” is located at 3650 meters above the see level on the northern range of the Himalayas. Lhasa tour is also a popular because of its culture, religion of Tibet. The ancient monasteries and Temple in the city have preserved many historical relics, Buddhist scriptures, arts and crafts.
This four days itinerary provides an exciting opportunity in order to explore the Lhasa, the Tibetan capital also known as mainland of Tibetan Buddhism. In this guided city tour you will be exploring the city’s most admired and historic sites like amazing temples, lively monasteries and vibrant markets.
While on this trip, you will visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple Barkhor Market, and Norbulingka, Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery and other places too.
Tibet is a part of China, and Lhasa is capital of Tibet. Thus no extra Visa is needed for traveling there. However, Tibet Travel Permits is required and is mostly handled by a registered travel agency as independent travel is not allowed in Tibet.
Don’t worry though we got you all covered up. Following are some document required to obtain Tibet travel permit and Chinese visa.
Arrive at Lhasa (3600 meters).
Upon landing on Gonggar airport you will be received by our guide. Completing all the formalities at immigration you will move towards Lhasa. Lhasa lies at an altitude of 3660m. Covering a distance of 93km by road which takes about 1.5 hours, you finally reach heartland of Tibet, Lhasa. It is advised to take the tour slow this day as it will be easier for you to adjust on the altitudes.
Lhasa sight-seeing
After breakfast, without wasting time we start sightseeing tour. Accompanied by an experienced guide, you embark on a visit to Tibet's renowned monasteries. At the Sera Monastery, you receive an insightful introduction to the fundamental principles of Buddhism. Following a delicious lunch, you continue your exploration of Tibet's ancient cultures and civilizations with a trip to Norbulingka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama. A tour of Jokhang temple offers another enthralling and informative experience. A visit to Barkhor Markets is a major highlight of the day, where you can wander and explore to your heart's content. Finally, you return to your hotel to rest.
Sight-seeing Lhasa
Today, you have the opportunity to get deeper into the mysterious wonders of Lhasa. Following breakfast, you'll set off to witness the majestic Potala Palace, which towers above the city of Lhasa. From a vantage point, you'll wonder at the breathtakingly sophisticated Tibetan murals, temples, stupas, and tombs of the eight past Dalai Lamas. With each exploration, you'll gain a deeper understanding of ancient Tibetan cultures. In the afternoon, following a satisfying lunch, you'll visit the beautifully landscaped Drepung Monastery, where you can observe nuns and monks performing religious chants and discourses. After this spiritual journey, you'll return to your hotel for a delicious dinner and a well-deserved peaceful sleep.
Departure Day
Today is last day of the trip, depending on your flight timings we will move towards the airport. The two hour drive will take you to the airport. Our representative will take you to airport.
Independent tour is prohibited in Tibet. You should take part in an organized ground group or have the local travel operator to arrange for you.
You need to have valid Chinese visa and a Tibet permit which is issued by embassy of China and travel permit is issued by Tibet Tourism Bureau.
As the Tibet is at high altitude the climate is cold so it is recommended that you have warm clothes with you, thermo coat, monkey cap, comfort shoes, masks, walking sticks, sunscreen lotions, sun glasses are also recommended accessories for the trip.
While in Lhasa there is wide range of accommodation from hostel to five star hotels. Outside Lhasa there are many good hotels but in places like EBC you will get basic guest house with limited facility.
You can find Tibetan and Chinese dishes such as noodles, momos, yak meat, pork belly, Kung Pao chicken with rice, and more in Tibet. For tourists, there are also restaurants that offer Western cuisine in Lhasa.
