Annapurna Base Camp trek is a legendary trekking destination of Nepal. This is one of the popular treks of Nepal which attracts a wide number of tourist from different places throughout the world. This trek is also known as Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. 

Generally, this trek takes you to the base of the world’s 10th highest peak, Mt. Annapurna standing tall with its altitude of 8091 m. The base camp itself stands at an altitude of 4130 m inside the Annapurna Conservation Area. Annapurna Base Camp trek lies in the northern part of central Nepal surrounded by the high walls of the Great Himalayas. This trek is considered as a moderate trekking destination of Nepal especially suitable for both first time as well as experienced trekkers.

Annapurna Base Camp trek is a collection of amazing memories, experience and taste of the great Himalayas of Nepal. This 14-day trek to ABC will take you to some majestic places displaying the unspoiled side of the nature. Breath taking views of the Himalayas, green hills, forest, waterfalls, etc. makes this trek more adventurous and worth it. The best time to visit Annapurna Base camp is during Autumn and Spring. Autumn lies between the month of Late September to early December and Spring between March to early June. It does not require any advance physical fitness level.

Basically, Annapurna Base Camp trek starts from Kathmandu. Located at an altitude of around 1400 m, Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. Here, you will explore some heritage sites and prepare for your trek. Then you will fly Pokhara, a popular tourist hub of Nepal. Also considered as the lake city of Nepal, Pokhara is the gateway to various trekking destination. You will have some sightseeing tour around Pokhara and then you will drive up to Nayapul. This will be starting point of the trek. From here, you will follow the trail flowing along the Modi khola which will lead you to Ghandruk passing various settlements. Ghandruk is a large settlement of Gurung community. Gurungs are the Himalayan tribes who have their own unique culture and lifestyle. From Ghandruk, you will pass lush forest of pines, bamboo and rhododendron crossing villages like Chomrong, Jhinu danda, Dovan and Machhapuchhre base camp to finally reach Annapurna Base Camp. During the trek, you will have amazing views of the sceneries witnessing them from lush forest to alpine and bushes of juniper. At the base camp, magnificent views of the sunrise and sunset can be admired with the gigantic peaks of the Annapurna range. Snow capped peaks like Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiuchuli, Mt. Fishtail and many more peaks can be seen clearly during the whole journey. Then, you will simply return retracing same trail up to Jhinu danda and descend up to Kande via Landruk and Pothana. You will drive back Pokhara and then, fly back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival at Kathmandu airport.
During your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, our office representative will warmly welcome you. A private vehicle will be sent for your hotel transfer. You will drive to your reserved hotel which will be located around Thamel bazar.

At the hotel, rooms will be assigned as per the reservation. We will come to meet you at the hotel for follow up. In the evening, we will celebrate welcome dinner together at a typical Nepali restaurant.

Day 2

Sightseeing tour and preparation day at Kathmandu.
Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal with its own unique ancient history and culture. This day, you will explore around some historical, cultural and spiritual places of Kathmandu valley. These sites are enlisted in the UNESCO world’s heritage site due to their significant value. Our city guide will meet you at your hotel for the sightseeing tour. A private vehicle will be provided for the sightseeing. After the tour, the vehicle will drop you at the hotel.

During the evening, our Sherpa guide will meet you at the hotel for some trip briefing. He will let you know about the clothing and equipment that you need for the trek.

Day 3

Fly Kathmandu to Pokhara.
This day, you will fly to Pokhara from Kathmandu. You will have an early morning breakfast and then drive to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport. Our private vehicle will drop you there. Then, you will proceed for the Kathmandu-Pokhara flight which will be an amazing flight of around 25 minutes. Astonishing views of Kathmandu valley, Pokhara valley and the Himalayas with the green hills can be enjoyed from the flight.

Reaching Pokhara, our private vehicle will transfer you to the hotel. Hotels will be booked around the lakeside of Pokhara. After hotel check-in, you will take some rest and then have an exciting sightseeing tour around Pokhara city.

Day 4

Drive Pokhara to Nayapul; Trek to Ghandruk
Breakfast will be provided at Pokhara hotel. After the breakfast, you will head towards Nayapul. Our private vehicle will drive you all the way up to Nayapul which will take approx. 1.5 hours. During the drive, you will enjoy beautiful terrace farming and green hills. After reaching Nayapul, you will start the trek up to Ghandruk which is the overnight destination of the day. It is a short walk of around 4 hours to reach Ghandruk. You will walk along the trail beside the Modi River. Reaching Ghandruk, rooms will be assigned, and rest of the day is free to explore around the village.

Ghandruk is a large settlement of Gurung community which is a Himalayan tribe. Located at an altitude of 1950 m, Ghandruk is also known as the Himalayan village with magnificent background of Mt. Annapurna South, Hiuchuli and Mt. Fishtail. Local people have their own lifestyle, culture and tradition which you can witness during the village exploration.

Day 5

Trek Ghandruk to Chomrong village.
Early morning after having your breakfast at the hotel, you will start the trek of the day. This day, you will trek up to Chomrong village. You will trek around a total of 6 hours from Ghandruk to reach Chomrong village. Firstly, you will ascend some uphills to reach Kimrong ridge from where you will descend to its village. Walking several hours inside the dense forest, you will finally reach Chomrong village which is the last permanent village of Gurung people. Located at an altitude of 2170 m, this village is also considered as the gateway of Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp trekking.


Reaching Chomrong village, you will check-in at the hotel and rooms will be assigned.

Day 6

Trek to Dovan via Bamboo.
Early morning breakfast will be provided at the hotel. After that, you will head towards Dovan for the overnight stay. Firstly, you will descend for some time and cross a bridge over the Chomrong River. From there, you will ascend some uphill and reach Sinuwa. After an hour of walk in the cool lush forest, you will reach Bamboo which is a beautiful place situated in the middle of the forest. You will ascend for some time from Bamboo to finally reach Dovan. It will be 6 hours of ups and downs during the day.

Reaching Dovan located at an altitude of 2600 m, rooms will be assigned as per the reservation, and you can explore around the village in the remaining time.

Day 7

Trek Dovan to Machhapuchhre Base Camp.
This day, you will head towards the foot of Mt. Fishtail. Mt. fishtail is a sacred mountain peak of Annapurna region with an altitude of 6993 m. The mountain is named fishtail due to its fish shaped structure. The base camp itself lies at an altitude of around 3700 m.

Early morning after having breakfast at the hotel, you will start the trek of the day. Ascending some uphill and gaining altitude, you will pass Himalayan hotel which lies below the Hiuchuli peak. You will witness some change in the geography and environment. You will walk through the rough trails and over the moraines and glaciers. Moving furthermore, you will cross a small bridge over a stream to finally reach Deurali. Machhapuchhre Base Camp is around an hour of normal walk from Deurali. Drastic change in the landscape and topography can be observed during the trek. You will walk a total of 5 hours this day to reach MBC from Dovan.

Reaching MBC, rooms will be assigned, and rest of the time is free to explore around the base camp. There are limited number of lodges at the base camp displaying spectacular views of the surrounding peaks.

Day 8

Trek to Annapurna Base Camp.
After an amazing overnight at the Machhapuchhre base camp, you will wake up early morning to enjoy the glamorous sunrise views in the Himalayas. The base camp is surrounded by pristine views of the snowcapped mountain peak of Annapurna region. After enjoying the mind-blowing sunrise view and delicious breakfast, you will start the trek of the day up to your destination, Annapurna Base Camp.

Annapurna base camp is just around 2 hours of normal walk from Machhapuchhre base camp. Incredible views of the mountain ranges will be cheering you throughout the journey. After some walk on the rough trails, you will finally reach the foot of world’s 10th highest peak, Annapurna Base Camp. Reaching there, rooms will be assigned as per your reservation. Then, you can simply explore around the base camp and enjoy the mighty atmosphere of the place. Do not forget to enjoy the gorgeous sunset view from the base camp.

Day 9

Trek back to Bamboo.
Annapurna Base Camp is surrounded with 360 mountain peaks of the Annapurna region including Annapurna I, Annapurna south, Mt. fishtail and Hiuchuli. The morning view of the Himalayas offers amazing side of the peaks. Most importantly, do not forget to admire the breath-taking sunrise view and the natural color combination. This will be one of your lifetime memories and experience.

After some quality time at Annapurna Base Camp, you will leave the base camp and retrace your trail up to Bamboo where you will spend an overnight. Bamboo is located at an altitude of 2310 m, and it will be a total of 6 hours descend up to Bamboo.

Day 10

Trek to Jhinu Danda Hot spring.
Like previous day, this day also you will retrace your trail up to Jhinu Danda. From Bamboo, you will ascend to Khuldi ghar and then slightly walk downhill to reach Sinuwa. Passing the dense forest, you will cross Chomrong khola, pass Chomrong village and finally reach Jhinu Danda. Reaching Jhinu Danda, rooms will be assigned as per the reservation. It will be a total of 5 hours walk.

After that, you can have some refreshing time at the natural hot spring of Jhinu Danda with some chill beer.

Day 11

Trek Jhinu Danda to Pothana.
Early morning, you will have your breakfast at Jhinu Danda and head towards Pothana for the overnight. Firstly, you will descend to Modi Khola for an hour. Crossing the bridge over Modi Khola, you will head towards Landruk village. This village lies to the opposite hill of Ghandruk village. Walking through the pine forest, you will reach Pitam Deurali from where you will descend downhill to Pothana. Pothana is a beautiful place inside the dense forest located at an altitude of 1800 m. Total trek duration of the day will be around 6 hours.


Reaching Pothana, rooms will be assigned. You can enjoy beautiful sceneries from Pothana and explore around Pothana.

Day 12

Trek to Kande; Drive back Pokhara.
This day, you will return back Pokhara. Firstly, you will descend to Kande passing Australian Base Camp which will take around 1 hours of downhill. Distant mountain views will be cheering you throughout the journey. Reaching Kande, our private vehicle will drive you all the way to Pokhara. It will be a drive of around 1.5 hours to reach Pokhara.

Reaching Pokhara, you will check-in at the hotel. Remaining part of the day is free to explore around Pokhara and have a chilling time at the lakeside.

Day 13

Fly back to Kathmandu.
After an overnight stay at Pokhara, this day you will fly back Kathmandu from Pokhara airport. Early morning after breakfast, our vehicle will transfer you to the airport for the flight. You will have a scenic Pokhara-Kathmandu flight which will take around 25 minutes to land on Kathmandu.

During your arrival at Kathmandu, our office representative will be waiting for you. He will make sure to transfer you to the hotel. After check-in at the hotel, you are free to rest or explore around Thamel.


At the evening, we will have a farewell dinner together at a typical Nepali restaurant with some musical programs.

Day 14

Final departure.
You are free to explore and do shopping until your final transfer to the airport. Our office representative will transfer you to the airport on our private vehicle. You will be transferred 4 hours before your flight schedule for airport formalities. Have a safe flight !
