Dhampus peak is a stunning peak of Nepal located at the Northeast side of the world’s 7th highest peak, Mt. Dhaulagiri (8163 m). This peak is also known as Thapa peak which has an altitude of 6012 m. Tukuche peak (6920 m) and Massif Dhaulagiri surround this beautiful peak making the scenery more amazing and magnificent from the base up-to the summit. From the summit, you can enjoy wide 360 views of the Himalayas including peaks like Tukuche, Tilicho, Hiuchuli and Dhaulagiri ranges. Dhampus peak is an accessible mountain permitted by Nepal Government. This climbing trip lies between the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges making the trip more worthy. Some overnight of the trip are camping-based at high altitude places which makes the trip more adventurous.

You will prepare for the trip at Kathmandu with an amazing sightseeing tour around the UNESCO world’s heritage site of Kathmandu. Then, you will fly Pokhara, the lake city of Nepal, enjoying scenic mountain views and hill stations. You will drive all the way to Tatopani from Kathmandu via Beni. Your trek starts from Tatopani walking through various dense forest, beautiful settlements and villages like Ghasa, Larjung, Marpha, Yak Kharka and cross the Dhampus LA pass to summit the scale of Dhampus Peak. Dhampus LA pass is one of the highest passes of Nepal with an altitude of 5250 m. Wide range of ancient culture and tradition of the local people and their lifestyle can be closely observed during the trip. Passing various chortens, gumbas and suspension bridges over rivers, you ascend to the ancient unspoiled villages located under the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu.
Firstly, you will land on Tribhuwan International Airport of Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. During your arrival, our office representative will be waiting for you. A private vehicle will be sent according to your group size. Our office representative will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. At the hotel, we will meet you for small meeting and follow up. During the evening, welcome dinner will be served at a typical Nepali restaurant with some cultural programs.

Day 2

Trip preparation day and sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley.
On this day, you will prepare for the trip and have an amazing sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley. Our Sherpa guide will meet you at the hotel. He will list and check out all the necessary gears and equipments for the trip. Also, he will check your permits and tickets needed for the trip. If you have any queries on your personal gears simply feel free to ask him. Lastly, he will brief you about the tour and its routes. After that, we will sent you our city guide and a private vehicle for the sightseeing tour. You will explore around the UNESCO world's heritage site of Kathmandu valley including Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath. Our city guide will make sure to clear all your queries about the sites. After the tour, the vehicle will drop you at your hotel.

Day 3 

Fly Pokhara (850m).
This day, you will fly Pokhara from Kathmandu. Firstly, you will have an early breakfast at the hotel. After that, our vehicle will drive you to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport from where you will have a scenic mountain flight all the way upto Pokhara. This flight will take around 25 minutes to reach Pokhara. Pokhara is a popular tourist hub which is well known for its amazing lakes and the lakeside. It is also known as the lake city of Nepal.

Reaching Pokhara airport, our office representative will meet you and tranfer you to the hotel. Rest of the day, you will have a sightseeing tour around Pokhara and explore around the lakeside.

Day 4

Drive from Pokhara to Tatopani (2530 m).
This day, you will drive from Pokhara to Tatopani on our private vehicle. It will be a scenic drive of 6-7 hours. You will have your breakfast at Pokhara where our vehicle will come to pick you up. During the overland drive, you will enjoy snow capped mountain views, the terrace farming, green hills and forest. Beside that, you will drive along the hotels and settlements of people and cross numerous bridges over several rivers and streams. You will pass Beni bazar and head towards Tatopani from Galeshwor. After reaching Tatopani, you will check-in at the hotel. Tatopani is located at an altitude of 2530 m with natural hot springs where people dip their body for relaxation after the trek.

Day 5

Trek from Tatopani to Ghasa (2010m).
Early morning, you will have your breakfast at the hotel. You can visit the hot spring and take a hot shower after the breakfast. This day is the starting day of the trek. So, it will be an easy trek of around 4 hours of normal walk. You will head towards Ghasa for the overnight. Ghasa is located at an altitude of 2010 m. During the trek, you will walk through the trail along the Myagdi river passing various teahouses and human settlements. Crossing several suspension bridges and huge boulders, you will pass Kopchepani and after certain hour you will reach Ghasa where rooms will be assigned as per the reservation.

Day 6

Trek from Ghasa to Larjung (2550m).
Ghasa is a beautiful settlements of the local people. There are some bus and jeep stops at Ghasa. This beautiful settlement is surrounded by dense forest which is a home for all 6 Himalayan pheasant. If lucky, one can amdire such beauty with their own eye. Early morning, you will start your trek after a delicious breakfast at Ghasa. From here, you will head towards Larjung for the overnight. It will take around 5 hours to reach Larjung with an altitude of 2550 m. You will again walk through dense forest crossing bridges over rivers and streams. Reaching Larjung, you will check-in at the hotel. Remaining part of the day, you can explore around the large settlement of the village and visit Guru Sangpo cave, an ancient cave.

Day 7

Trek from Larjung to Marpha (2670m)
This day, you will head towards Marpha which is located at an altitude of 2670 m. This place is well known for its apple and apple products. You will have an early breakfast and trek towards Marpha. It will be a trek of 5 hours upto Marpha. This day, you will trek through the peaceful valley enjoying the plateaus and snow capped mountains. You will witness beautiful apple orchards along the trails. Passing various small chortens and gumbas you will reach Marpha. Reaching there, you will check in at the hotel. Rooms will be assigned as per the reservation. After that, you can explore around the village and taste some "Marpha" apple wine or delicious local apples of Marpha.

Day 8

Trek from Marpha to Yak Kharka (3900m).
Early morning, you can explore around the chortens and gumbas of Marpha. You will witness the ancient Tibetan culture and tradition of the local people. You can have a closer look at the local people and their lifestyle while exploring around the village.

Early morning breakfast will be provided at the hotel. After that you will follow the trail up to Yak kharka located at an altitude of 3900 m. This place is actually a yak grazing pastureland of the region where shepherd used to keep their temporary settlements. From Marpha, you will walk through the terrains enjoying the mighty landscape of the region. You will pass some chortens, scarcely populated settlements and small bridges to reach Yak kharka where you will stay an overnight.

Day 9

Trek from Yak Kharka to Dhampus Peak base camp via Dhampus pass (5244m).
Early morning after having breakfast at Yak kharka, you will head towards Dhampus base camp via Dhampus pass. Dhampus pass is one of the highest passes of the region with an altitude of 5244 m. It is also known as Thapa pass among the locals. You will walk through some rugged and rocky trails during this day with steep uphills. But the mesmerizing views of the Himalayas will be cheering you throughout the trek. You will gain a lot of elevation this day to have a breathtaking views from the top. Reaching Dhampus pass, you will spend some time and enjoy the moment. Then, you will head towards Dhampus peak base camp where our crew members will look for some good camping spot where you will spend an overnight. It will be a total of 7 hrs walk.

Day 10

Summit day of Dhampus Peak (6012m) back to Base Camp.
This is an important day of the trip as you will scale the summit of Dhampus peak this day. You will wake up early morning at 3 am and get ready for the summit push. Early morning push is good as the wind in the high altitude are strong during the afternoon. You will have your breakfast at the campsite and start the summit push. Our sherpa guide will lead you the way up to the top. There are some confusing trails while heading the top so please stick to your team and follow the Sherpa guide's instruction this day. There will be fixed ropes for climbing and abseiling down. After a hard devotion and steep uphill ascend, you will finally reach the top of Dhampus peak. It will take around 4 hours of steep uphill to reach the top. Standing tall at an altitude of 6012 m, you will enjoy magnificent 360 views of the surrounding peaks of the great Himalayas. Enjoying the sceneries and taking some picture, you will spend some time at the top. After that, you will start descending down up to the base camp.

Day 11 

Trek to Marpha
This day, you will retrace the trails up to Marpha passing Dhampus pass and Yak kharka. Early morning breakfast will be provided at the base camp and you will start the trek. You will cross the pass and descend down to Yak kharka enjoying the same sceneries and landscape for the last time. You will cross the bridges over the streams enjoying the mighty Himalayas. It will be a trek of around 6 hours of downhill walk. Reaching Marpha, rooms will be assigned and remaining part of the day is free to explore or take some rest at the hotel.

Day 12

Drive to Pokhara via Tatopani and Beni.
This day, you will drive all the way up to Pokhara from Marpha. It will be a scenic drive of 7 hours on our luxurious private vehicle. You will start the drive after a delicious breakfast at Marpha. You will drive along the Kali gandaki river passing Tatopani Galeshwor and reach Beni. From there, you will head towards Pokhara enjoying the Himalayas and the green hill stations. Reaching Pokhara, rooms will be assigned. Rest of the day, you can enjoy around the Lakeside and explore around it.

Day 13

Pokhara-Kathmandu flight.
Early morning, you will have your breaktfast and drive to Pokhara airport on our private vehicle. This day, you will fly back to Kathmandu from Pokhara which will take 25 mins of scenic flight. On your arrival at Kathmandu, our office representative will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. Remaining part of the day is free to explore around the popular tourist hub, Thamel Bazar. You can enjoy some spa, massage or sauna at Thamel.

Day 14 

Final departure from Kathmandu Airport.
Free to do shopping and explore around Thamel until final transfer to the airport. Our office representative will pick you up from the hotel and drop you at the airport on the private vehicle. Safe flight and we are eager to organize another trip with you soon.

FAQ

When is the best time for Nepal Peak Climbing?

In Nepal, there are two major seasons which are considered prime time for Peak Climbing. These times range from March to May and October to November. During this spring and fall seasons temperatures are moderate and weather tends to be very clear and blue sky. Yela Peak can also attempted during the winter but it is extremely cold and very challenging for the climbers.

Who is the leader ?

Our climbing Sherpa guides are decayed experienced and highly qualified with knowledge of high altitude climbing. Most of our climbers were born in Himalaya and have spent most of their live above the 4000 meters. Our guide are well trained about the technical climbing, customer relationship and responsibilities, altitude sickness, international languages and wilderness First Aid. They are all certified by Nepal Mountaineering Association.

What skill and fitness level are required ?

Training in advance can help you greatly. We recommended you to start your journey before you arrive Nepal. Do your everyday exercise, training on steep ground, off trail etc before the trip. This will not only increase your fitness level but also provides you with the knowledge of similar routes and trails. Start your basic training will improve your fitness level and aerobic capacity for altitude climbing.

We also request you to provide us your honest description of relevant experience and current fitness level. Upon we receive,  we will review your level and respond you accordingly. About this point if we consider there to be any suggestion then we provide a training support Plan to achieve your goal.

What about the meals?

During in Kathmandu: You can enjoy typical Nepali food, different ethnic cuisine like Chinese, continental, Italian and Indian. The breakfast will be provided in Hotel and one farewell dinner will be provided during in Kathmandu.

During the trekking: During in mountain your breakfast and dinner will be provided in same guesthouse where you stay overnight. Lunch will be taken en route to the next destination.

During the climbing: We will cook hygiene and fresh food in our camp and serve you in our dinning tent.

What about the accommodation ?

You will be accommodated 3 star hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and best available guesthouse during the trekking and tents while climbing. Most of the teahouse accommodation provide you sharing a bathrooms facilities. For tent accommodation you will be provided foam mattress and toilet will be managed with necessary natural preservation. All our accommodation are twin sharing basis and if you require single room the there will be charge of single supplementary.
