Naya Kanga is a popular peak situated in the Langtang region of Nepal. This peak is also known as Ganja LA Chuli located in the west side of Ganja LA pass. Naya Kanga Peak is a fabulous peak attracting number of tourist every year which is located at the southern side of Kyanjin Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is the destination village of the popular Langtang valley trek. This peak climbing trip is filled with scenic views, Tibetan influenced villages, settlements and traditions. Located at an altitude of 5844 m, the trail displays spectacular views of the Himalayas with diverse flora and faunas.

Naya Kanga peak is situated very close to the capital city, Kathmandu. It lies in the northern side of Kathmandu and is the nearest peak from here. Firstly, you will drive up to Syabrubesi from where the trek begins. Passing beautiful human settlements, dense forest of rhododendron and oaks, you will cross villages like Tiwari, Pahiro, Bamboo, Lama Hotel and Ghoda Tabela. You will witness various rocky hills and landslided area during the trek. Also, look up for some amazing mad honey of Himalayan Bees. You will cross the Langtang Khola over multiple suspension bridges. From Ghoda Tabela, the valley widens up and you can clearly see the villages you will pass through. You will cross the landslided area of Old langtang village which was demolished during the Earthquake of 2015. Passing new settlements of Langtang village, you will cros Mundu, Sindhum and finally to Kyanjin Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is the final destination of Langtang Valley trek. Trekking up to Kyanjin Gompa displays various Tibetan Buddhist culture with small chorten, gumbas and monasteries. From Kyanjin, you will head towards Naya Kanga Base Camp and High camp where you will spend some nights at the campsite and scale the summit of Naya Kanga Peak. The trails to the summit may be difficult and snowy depending on the season. It won’t be an easy ascend but our crew members will be there for you to push you upto the summit. The summit views offers splendid views of the mountain peaks such as Langtang Lirung, Shishpangma, Langshisha, Dorje Lakpa, Ganchempo, Yala peak and amazing plateaus of Tibetan side. If you are lucky enough, you can also get a sight of Red Panda, Snow leopard, Himalayan Tahr, Musk Deer and many more during the trek. After the summit scale, you will retrace the trails and return back for the celebration of successful Naya Kanga Peak summit scale.

Naya Kanga peak has relatively low altitude in comparison to other peaks but it requires some basic climbing techniques. You will have to ascend some snowy and icy trails up to the summit which requires some physical fitness and ability. Beside this, you should also be mentally prepared for the trip. It is not so difficult peak as it has less altitude than other peaks. So, any adventure seeker who are thinking of initiating their way to mountaineering is suitable for this trip. It is designed for the beginner climbers who wants to experience the rough and rugged side of the Himalayas and gather some knowledge for mountaineering.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu.

On your arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, our office representative will be waiting for you with a private vehicle according to your group size. The vehicle will drive you all the way to your hotel for your check-in. Your hotel will be around Thamel, a popular tourist hub of Kathmandu valley. We will meet you at your hotel for follow up. After that, you can simply take rest or roam around Thamel bazar. During the evening, we will have a small celebration as your welcome at a typical Nepali restaurant with some musical programs.

Day 2

Trip preparation day.

On this day, you will prepare for your Naya Kanga peak climbing trip. You will meet our Sherpa guide who will come to your hotel for some short trip description and route explanation. He will also brief you about the gears and equipments you'll require and use for the climbing trip. After the briefing, you will have a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal with various beautiful places to explore. Our city guide will meet you at the hotel with a vehicle for your tour. He will explore you around the UNESCO world's heritage site of Nepal. Some of them are Kathmandu Durbar Sqaure, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Swayambhunath. After the sightseeing tour, the vehicle will drive you back to your hotel. During the evening, you are free to explore around Thamel. During the evening time, Thamel is more worth it to explore.

Day 3

Drive Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

Early morning, you will drive to Syabrubesi on a private vehicle which will come to pick you up. Early morning ride is good as it avoids heavy traffic. You will pass various human settlement, hotel, lush of green forest, rivers to reach Syabrubesi. If clear weather, you can enjoy occassional sight of mountains covered with snow. Langtang national park permits will be checked at Dhunche, the headquarter of Rasuwa district. It will take around 6 hrs of normal drive upto Syabrubesi. Syabrubesi is the starting point of the trip located in Rasuwa District, northern side of Kathmandu. It is situated at an altitude of 1,460 m. Here you can do some shopping as things are sold more expensively after moving from here. In addition, you can enjoy beautiful mountain vista from Syabrubesi. The vehicle will drop you at the hotel where you will check-in and get rooms assigned. You can simply explore around Syabrubesi during the evening.

Day 4

Trek Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel.

This day is the starting day of your trek. You will have an early breakfast at Syabrubesi and head towards Lama hotel for the overnight. Firstly, you will descend down and reach Tiwari. After that, you will ascend some uphill to reach Lama Hotel passing Pairo, Bamboo and Rimche. It will be around 6 hours of a normal walk up to Lama hotel. You will cross beautiful settlements, lush of green forest, some landslided area and various suspension bridge over Langtang Khola during the trek. You will walk along the Langtang Khola with occasional crossing over it. Also, look up for some rocky hills and mad himalayan honey. Reaching Lama hotel, you will check-in at the hotel. Lama hotel is a beautiful settlements of human with small hotels and tea houses. It is located at an altitude of 2,410 m inside dense forest of Langtang valley.

Day 5

Trek Lama Hotel to Langtang village.

Today, you will head towards Langtang village located at an altitude of 3,330 m. The trek this day will be around 5 hrs of normal walk. You will again walk the trails beside the Langtang khola passing beautiful lush forest and some suspension bridges. This day, you will walk out of the dense forest and admire the beautiful view of Langtang valley as the valley opens up. You will pass ghumnachok and ghodatabela from where the valley opens up. You will enjoy beautiful views of waterfalls and streams. Beside that, you will walk on the yak and horse grazing land of Langtang valley. You will pass some gumpas, chorten and the landslided area of old Langtang village where the whole village was buried. New settlement of Langtang village has been established where you will spend the overnight. Reaching langtang village, you will check-in at the hotel.

Day 6

Trek Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa.

This day, you will reach Kyanjin Gompa which is the final overnight destination of Langtang valley trek. It is an easy trek day of around 3 hours from Langtang village. You will enjoy gigantic waterfalls, rocky hills and beautiful mountain vista during this day. Passing various gompa, chorten and huma settlements Mundu and Sindhum, you will reach Kyanjin Gompa view point. The view point displays amazing view of Kyanjin Gompa surrounded by snow covered mountains. Most of the pictures of Kyanjin Gompa are taken from here. Kyanjin Gompa is located at an altitude of 3,730 m. Reaching Kyanjin Gompa, rooms will be assigned. Rest of the day, you can explore around Kyanjin Gompa. You can hike upto Ice lake or Kyanjin RI.

Day 7

Acclimatization day at Kyanjin Gompa, Hike to Tserko RI

You will have an acclimatization day at Kyanjin Gompa before moving forward. The main goal this day is to hike higher and spend an overnight at Kyanjin Gompa. You will hike up to Tserko RI which is located at an altitude of around 4985 m. This day's total hike will be around 6 hrs. You will pass beautiful yak pastureland enjoying 360 mountain views. Panoramic view of Langtang lirung, Yala peak, Shishapangma, Dorje Lakpa, Naya Kanga and many other peaks can be enjoyed from the summit of Tserko RI. You will enjoy some quality time at the summit and then return back to Tserko RI.

Day 8

Trek Kyanjin Gompa to Ngegang Kharka.

After the acclimatization day at Kyanjin Gompa, you will head towards Ngegang Kharka which will take around 5 hrs uphills. You will pass the juniper shrubs lines and descend down crossing Langtang khola. From there, you will ascend uphills to reach Ngegang Kharka located at an altitude of 4,430 m. During the trek, you will enjoy magnificent mountain views with Langtang Lirung, Glacier and other ranges. If lucky, you will sopt some rare animals like snow leopard, himalayan Tahr and other species. Reaching Ngegang kharka, our crew members will set the campsite for the overnight.

Day 9

Trek Nyengang Kharka to High Camp.

This day, you will have an early breakfast and head Naya Kanga High camp. The trek duration will be around 4 hours uphill. Naya Kanga High Camp is located at an altitude of 4,960 m offering magnificent view of the mighty langtang ranges. You will ascend uphills on some rocky trails which can be snowy depending on season. After 4 hours of normal walk, you will finally reach High camp where campsites will be set up for the overnight.

Day 10

Naya Kanga Summit day; Trek back Nyengang Kharka.

You will wake up early in the morning at around 3 pm this day. This is the summit day of Naya Kanga peak aprrox. at an altitude of 5,900 m. Early morning, breakfast will be provided at the campsite by our crew members. Then, you will head towards the summit of Naya Kanga peak. As the evening time is windier at the highlands, it is always good to wake up early for the summit push. Our Sherpa guide will lead you the way ascending the steep uphill from the northern side. You will use your equipments when required and as your guide's suggestion. Always listen to your Sherpa guide during the climbing period. After some hours of ascend, you will finally reach the summit and scale it. From the top of the peak, you will enjoy splendid 360 view of the mountain ranges with plateaus of Tibet side. You will capture some pictures and enjoy a quality time at the summit. After that, you will descend down to Ngegang kharka retracing the same trails. It will be a total of around 9 hours total walk this day. After reaching Ngegang kharka, you will rest at the campsite after a heavy walk.

Day 11

Trek Nyengang Kharka to Kyanjin Gompa.

This day is a short trek to Kyanjin Gompa from Ngegang Kharka. You will retrace the trail until you reach Kyanjin Gompa. You will cross the final suspension bridge and pass across the Chhona Lake to finally reach your overnight destination. It will be around 4 hours of normal walk.

Day 12

Trek back to Rimche.

Early breakfast will be provided at Kyanjin Gompa. After that, you will descend down to Rimche for the overnight. Like previous day, you will retrace the trail crossing suspension bridges, admiring waterfalls, sceneries mountains and yak pasturelands. You will descend down through the lush forest to finally reach Rimche passing Mundu, Langtang village, Ghodatabela and Lama hotel. Rimche is located at an altitude of 2,455 m. After reaching there, rooms will be assigned.

Day 13

Trek Rimche to Thulo Syabru

You will have an early breakfast at Rimche. After that, you will head towards Thulo Syabru. You will descend down upto Pairo from where you will begin ascending uphill to Thulo Syabru. If you want to then you can have a relaxing time at the hot spring of Pairo. Dipping your body in hot water makes your sore body and legs more relaxed.
After reaching Thulo Syabru, rooms will be assigned. The total trek this day will be around 5 hours. Thulo Syabru is a large settlements of the locals. You can explore around the village with beautiful mountain views. Located at an altitude of 2,210 m, you can also witness Gosaikunda Lake trail from here.

Day 14

Trek to Thulo Bharkhu; Drive back Kathmandu.

This is your last day at Rasuwa district. After an early breakfast, you will walk towards Thulo Bharkhu which will take around 3 hours of normal walk. This is the final walk of the trip. After reaching Thulo Bharkhu, our private vehicle will be waiting for you. The vehicle will drive you all the way to your hotel at Kathmandu.
During the evening, we will celebrate your successful summit scale of Naya Kanga peak with a farewell dinner.

Day 15

Final Departure.

Free to do shopping and explore around until final transfer to the airport. Our private vehicle will transfer you to the airport before 3 hours of your scheduled flight for the airport formalities.

FAQ

When is the best time for Nepal Peak Climbing?

In Nepal, there are two major seasons which are considered prime time for Peak Climbing. These times range from March to May and October to November. During this spring and fall seasons temperatures are moderate and weather tends to be very clear and blue sky. Yela Peak can also attempted during the winter but it is extremely cold and very challenging for the climbers.

Who is the leader ?

Our climbing Sherpa guides are decayed experienced and highly qualified with knowledge of high altitude climbing. Most of our climbers were born in Himalaya and have spent most of their live above the 4000 meters. Our guide are well trained about the technical climbing, customer relationship and responsibilities, altitude sickness, international languages and wilderness First Aid. They are all certified by Nepal Mountaineering Association.

What skill and fitness level are required ?

Training in advance can help you greatly. We recommended you to start your journey before you arrive Nepal. Do your everyday exercise, training on steep ground, off trail etc before the trip. This will not only increase your fitness level but also provides you with the knowledge of similar routes and trails. Start your basic training will improve your fitness level and aerobic capacity for altitude climbing.

We also request you to provide us your honest description of relevant experience and current fitness level. Upon we receive,  we will review your level and respond you accordingly. About this point if we consider there to be any suggestion then we provide a training support Plan to achieve your goal.

What about the meals?

During in Kathmandu: You can enjoy typical Nepali food, different ethnic cuisine like Chinese, continental, Italian and Indian. The breakfast will be provided in Hotel and one farewell dinner will be provided during in Kathmandu.

During the trekking: During in mountain your breakfast and dinner will be provided in same guesthouse where you stay overnight. Lunch will be taken en route to the next destination.

During the climbing: We will cook hygiene and fresh food in our camp and serve you in our dinning tent.

What about the accommodation ?

You will be accommodated 3 star hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and best available guesthouse during the trekking and tents while climbing. Most of the teahouse accommodation provide you sharing a bathrooms facilities. For tent accommodation you will be provided foam mattress and toilet will be managed with necessary natural preservation. All our accommodation are twin sharing basis and if you require single room the there will be charge of single supplementary.
