Pisang peak is one of the beautiful climbing peak of Nepal attracting a wide number of tourist every year. This pyramidal peak is situated just above Pisang village, located inside the Annapurna Region. Pisang village is a small village of Manang district which lies on the Annapurna Circuit trail, a popular trek route of Nepal. Combination of pisang peak climbing trip and Annapurna circuit trek is one of the most adventurous trips in the Himalayas. With an altitude of 6091 m, this peak stands tall in the northern side of Nepal with surrounding peak of the Annapurna region. Pisang peak is also known as Jong RI. This peak was first climbed by the German Expedition team in 1955. Since then, this peak has become a popular climbing destination in the Himalayas. Fabulous views of the great himalayas can be enjoyed from the summit of Pisang peak including Manang valley and Annapurna ranges.

Pisang peak (Jong RI) generally takes you towards the majestic peaks of Annapurna, Lamjung and Mt. fishtail. You will head towards Pisang valley with a day drive from Kathmandu valley and some days trek. Passing beautiful settlements of Jagat, Chyamje, Tal, Dharapani and Chame, you will reach Pisang from where you will head towards Pisang peak. During the trip, you will have some days reserved as an acclimatization day for your safe and successful peak climbing. You will head towards the base camp and high camp from Pisang village and have some pre climbing training organized by our Sherpa guide. Then, you will finally push the summit and scale it with gorgeous mountain views. The trail up to the summit are combined with rocky as well as snowy trails, crevasses and glaciers which can be challenging in some parts. After the summit scale, you will return back to Pisang and ascend uphill to cross one of the highest passes of the Annapurna region, Thorong LA. Thorung LA pass is a popular pass of Nepal located at an altitude of 5,416 m. From here, you will descend down to Muktinath. Muktinath is located at an altitude of 3800 m which is a famous sacred place for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. Lastly, you will descend down to Jomsom where the trip ends. Jomsom is a town of Mustang district offering airline services with various shops, hotels, lodges, financial institutes and vice versa. You will fly Pokhara from Jomsom which offers magnificent views of the surrounding peaks.

The best season for Pisang peak climbing trip are Autumn and Spring season. Autumn lies between September-November and Spring lies between March-May. However, it can be done in early december as well.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu.
For this adventurous trip of Pisang peak, you will first land on the Tribhuwan International Airport of Kathmandu valley. During your arrival at this airport, our office representative will be waiting for you who will warmly greet you and welcome you to Nepal. A private vehicle according to your group size will be sent for your hotel transfer. The vehicle will drive you all the way to the reserved hotel which will be around Thamel. Thamel is a famous place for tourist with various souvenir shops, pubs, bar and clubs. It will take around 20-30 minutes to reach the hotel depending upon the traffic. We will meet you at the hotel for your welcome and follow up.
During the evening, we will enjoy welcome dinner together at a typical Nepali restaurant.

Day 2

Trip preparation and sightseeing tour around Kathmandu.
On this day, you will prepare for the Pisang peak climbing trip with our Sherpa guide. Our sherpa guide will meet you at the hotel who will brief you about the trip and the routes. You will manage all the essential climbing gears and equipments toegther with our Sherpa guide. If you want to hire some personal gears, you can consult with our Sherpa guide.

After the trip preparation, you will have a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. Our city guide will meet you at your hotel with a private vehicle. You will explore around the UNESCO world's heritage site of Kathmandu including durbar square of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. You will also visit Swayambhunath and Boudhanath. After the sightseeing tour, the vehicle will drop you to your hotel.

Day 3

Drive to Syange.
This day, you will leave Kathmandu for Syange. It will be a long drive of around 9 hrs to reach Syange. Our private vehicle will pick you from the hotel. During the drive, you will enjoy various snow-capped mountains, green hills, streams and rivers. You will pass through various human settlements and hotels along the road. You will reach Besisahar, the headquarter of Lamjung district. You will continue off road drive from Besi Sahar to Syanje.

Reaching Syanje located at an altitude of around 1130 m, rooms will be assigned and rest of the day is free to explore around Syanje.

Day 4

Trek to Dharapani
This is the starting day of the trek. This day, you will walk from Syange to Dharapani following the Annapurna Circuit trek trail. After breakfast, you will start the day's trek walking through the trail beside Marsyangdi river. The trail displays scenic views of snow capped mountains, amazing landscape and various beautiful streams. You will walk for around 5 hrs this day passing villages like Jagat, Chamje and Tal village. Beautiful settlements on the river's bank can be enjoyed during the trek. You will cross various suspension bridges over the Marsyangdi river and finally ascend uphill to reach Dharapani located at an altitude of 1860 m.
Reaching there, rooms will be assigned. Remaining part of the day is free to explore around the village and enjoy the scenery. You will gain around 700 m of altitude this day.

Day 5

Trek to Chame
On the second day of the trek, you will head towards Chame for the overnight walking the same Annapurna Circuit route. You will have your breakfast at Dharapani and start the trek. You will enjoy beautiful sceneries of Mt. Manasalu and Mt. Annapurna II during the day's trek. Beside the scenic mountains, you will also have a close look at the human settlements and their lifestyle with some amazing landscapes. After walking for around 5-6 hours in the dense forest, you will reach Chame passing villages like Bagarchhap, Timang, Thanchowk and Koto. Chame is beautiful town and business center of Manang district. It is located at an altitude of around 2700 m. Reaching Chame, you will check in at the hotel and rooms will be assigned as per the reservation. Around 900 m of altitude will be gained this day.

Day 6

Trek to Pisang (3,240m)
This day, you will trek up to Pisang village located at an altitude of around 3240 m. This village is the gateway to Pisang peak climbing adventure. After breakfast at Chame, you will start the trek to Pisang village. As you move further up, you will gain altitude and witness some change in the landscape and vegetation as well. During the trek, you will enjoy beautiful views of Annapurna ranges, Mt. Manasalu and Lamjung Himal from the trail. Reaching Pisang, rooms will be assigned as per the reservation.

Day 7 

Trek to Pisang Peak Base Camp
Today, you will leave Pisang village and ascend up to the base of Pisang peak where you will spend an overnight at the campsite. This day, you will gain around 1000 m of altitude passing various tiny villages and rocky trails. It will take around 4 hours to reach the base of Pisang peak. Astonishing mountain views and the landscape can be seen throughout the trek. The base camp is located at an altitude of 4380 m.
Reaching Pisang base camp, our crew members will set up the tents around the campsite where dinner will be cooked and served by themselves.

Day 8

Trek to Pisang Peak High Camp (5,400m)
Like the following day, this day also you will gain around 1000 m of altitude during the uphill ascend. Leaving base camp, you will head towards the high camp of Pisang peak located at an altitude of around 5400 m. The trails are rough and rocky with beautiful surrounding sceneries and snow capped mountain peaks. You will ascend uphill for around 4 hours to reach the high camp of Pisang peak.

Reaching there, our crew members will manage the accodomation and fooding. Remaining time, you can simply explore and enjoy the majestic landscape of the high camp.

Day 9

Pisang Peak Summit Day (6,091m); Trek back Base Camp
This is an important day of the climbing trip as you will scale the summit of Pisang peak this day. You will get up early in the morning at around 3 am and get ready for the summit push. Early morning approach is better as the wind blows strongly and harshly during the evening. Breakfast will be provided at the campsite and you will start ascending. It is highly recommended to follow your Sherpa guide throughout the summit push as he has good experience. Beside that, there can be crevasses and difficult trails which may hinder the summit push. Some rocky faces of the peak are challenging but our crew will be there to help you in need. You will use the fixed ropes to climb the peak. If there are no ropes then our Sherpa guide will fix them for you. The rocky, rugged and snowy trails makes the summit push more challenging and require physical and mental stability. Finally after all the hard times, you will have a wonderful experience and accomplishment reaching the top of Pisang peak with an altitude of 6091 m. You will spend some quality time at the top admiring the beauty of the nature and its creation, capture some pictures and then descend back. Climbers are recommended to descend carefully for the safe returning. You will descend up to the high camp and again retrace the trail up to the base camp where you will spend the overnight.

Day 10

Contingency Day
This day is a reserved day included in the itinerary. If there are some problems such as weather, Acute mountain sickness or vice versa then this day will compensate for the summit push. If things go as planned then this day is not required.

Day 11

Trek to Manang
After the tented accomodation at the base camp, today you will head towards Manang village of Manang district. This village has its own identity when it comes to natural beauty and landscape. Located at an altitude of 3450 m, this village displays various unique human settlements located below gigantic rocky hills and snow capped mountains. After having breakfast at the campsite, you will start the day's trek. You will descend down to Pisang village and follow the same trail to Annapurna Circuit trek passing tiny villages and beautiful forest. Reaching Manang, rooms will be assigned at the hotel and you can explore around the village.

Day 12

Trek to Letdar Phedi
You will have your breakfast at the hotel, Manang. After that, you will start the trek of the day. This day, you will head towards Letdar Phedi for the overnight stay. Letdar is located at an altitude of around 4200 m and is a yak grazing pastureland of the highland people. This day, you will walk through the stunning landscape of Manang district which will cherish your heart. Enjoying the beauty of the nature and the amazing mountain views, you will reach Letdar phedi where rooms will be assigned at the reserved hotel. It will be a trek of around 5-6 hours depending on your walking pace.

Day 13 

Trek to Thorang High Camp
Early morning, you will explore around Letdar and enjoy around the yak grazing pastureland which looks magnificent due to the surrounding rock surfaces and high mountains. You will have your breakfast at the hotel and head towards Thorung high camp. This high camp is situated just below the popular Thorung LA pass of the Annapurna Circuit trek. You will spend an overnight at the high camp located at an altitude of 4880 m. It will be a short trek of around 2 hours of normal walk as you will cross the Thorung LA pass tomorrow. Trek to the high camp is a straight uphill ascend so it might be struggling at times. Walking through the rugged trails and enjoying the scenery, you will reach Thorung High camp where you will spend the overnight.

Day 14

Trek to Muktinath via Thorung LA pass
This day can be little challenging as you will cross one of the highest passes of the Annapurna region, Thorung LA pass. Located at an altitude of 5416 m, this pass is a popular pass of Nepal attracting a wide number of tourist yearly. You will have an early morning breakfast at the high camp and start the trek earlier in comparison to other days. From high camp, it will take around 3 hours of normal ascend uphill towards Thorung LA pass. Walking in a normal pace can be a good choice during this day due to the thin air around the pass. Reaching Thorung LA pass, you will spend some quality time capturing pictures and enjoying the mighty surroundings and landscape. This pass join the beautiful Manang and Mustang district.
After some times at Thorung LA pass, you will descend down to reach Muktinath. This beautiful temple, located at an altitude of 3800m, is one of the sacred religious sites for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. You will explore around the village and check-in at the hotel.

Day 15

Trek to Jomsom
Early morning, you will head towards Muktinath temple to explore around and enjoy some majestic views from the top. After the exploration, you will have breakfast and start the trek of the day. This day, you will head towards Jomsom. Enjoying the scenery of Mustang district, you will descend down from Muktinath to Lower Mustang region which displays stunning sights of the Tibetan plateaus and rocky hills. You will descend up to Kagbeni which is a beautiful village located on the bank of Kali Gandaki River. From here, you will follow the trail along the Kali Gandaki River to finally reach Jomsom. Reaching there, rooms will be assigned.

Day 16

Fly Jomsom to Pokhara
Jomsom is a small town located inside the Mustang valley. This place lies between two gigantic mountain ranges, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna, which makes it windier during the afternoon. Due to this reason, you will have an early morning flight to Pokhara from Jomsom. This wonderful mountain flight will take around 25 minutes. Once you reach Pokhara, our private vehicle will transfer you to the hotel and you will have a wonderful sightseeing tour around Pokhara valley.

During the evening time, you can explore around the Phewa lakeside which is a popular tourist hub of Pokhara.

Day 17 

Fly back Kathmandu.
After an early morning breakfast, you will head towards Pokhara airport on our private vehicle for the Pokhara-Kathmandu flight. This flight will take around 25 minutes to reach Kathmandu where our private vehicle will transfer you to the hotel at Kathmandu. After that, you can simply relax at the hotel or explore around Thamel Bazar.

During the evening, we will celebrate your successful summit scale of Pisang peak and the whole trip with a local cuisine as farewell dinner.

Day 18 

Final Departure
Free to do shopping or explore until transfer to the airport. Our private vehicle will drop you at the airport 3 hours before your flight schedule for airport formalities. We wish you a safe flight and looking forward to organize another trip with you in Nepal very soon.

When is the best time for Nepal Peak Climbing?

In Nepal, there are two major seasons which are considered prime time for Peak Climbing. These times range from March to May and October to November. During this spring and fall seasons temperatures are moderate and weather tends to be very clear and blue sky. Yela Peak can also attempted during the winter but it is extremely cold and very challenging for the climbers.

Who is the leader ?

Our climbing Sherpa guides are decayed experienced and highly qualified with knowledge of high altitude climbing. Most of our climbers were born in Himalaya and have spent most of their live above the 4000 meters. Our guide are well trained about the technical climbing, customer relationship and responsibilities, altitude sickness, international languages and wilderness First Aid. They are all certified by Nepal Mountaineering Association.

What skill and fitness level are required ?

Training in advance can help you greatly. We recommended you to start your journey before you arrive Nepal. Do your everyday exercise, training on steep ground, off trail etc before the trip. This will not only increase your fitness level but also provides you with the knowledge of similar routes and trails. Start your basic training will improve your fitness level and aerobic capacity for altitude climbing.

We also request you to provide us your honest description of relevant experience and current fitness level. Upon we receive,  we will review your level and respond you accordingly. About this point if we consider there to be any suggestion then we provide a training support Plan to achieve your goal.

What about the meals?

During in Kathmandu: You can enjoy typical Nepali food, different ethnic cuisine like Chinese, continental, Italian and Indian. The breakfast will be provided in Hotel and one farewell dinner will be provided during in Kathmandu.

During the trekking: During in mountain your breakfast and dinner will be provided in same guesthouse where you stay overnight. Lunch will be taken en route to the next destination.

During the climbing: We will cook hygiene and fresh food in our camp and serve you in our dinning tent.

What about the accommodation ?

You will be accommodated 3 star hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and best available guesthouse during the trekking and tents while climbing. Most of the teahouse accommodation provide you sharing a bathrooms facilities. For tent accommodation you will be provided foam mattress and toilet will be managed with necessary natural preservation. All our accommodation are twin sharing basis and if you require single room the there will be charge of single supplementary.
