Muktinath is situated in north-center of Nepal in the elevation of 3800m. During the festival of Janai Purnima, Hindu devotees gather here to pay homage to lord Muktinath. Its main shrine is a pagoda-shaped temple dedicated to lord Vishnu. Behind the temple there are 108 waterspouts cast in the shape of cow headed pour holy water. At Muktinath Temple pilgriamge takes bath with the ice-cold holy water and visiting the Jwala Devi temple nearby contains a spring and eternal holy flame fed by natural gas spewing out of the ground. An auspicious combination of earth, fire, & water that is responsible for the religious importance of Muktinath.

Hindus regard Muktinath as the incranation of Lord Bishnu where as Buddhists regard it as Buddha. Muktinath as the name suggestsis said to provide salavation & has a detailed elaboration in our Dharma shatras. Muktinath is the only shrine where a combination of hindu and buddhist priest Dom is found. A shradha (the rituals after the death) at the confluence of Kag Khola and river Kaligandaki at Kagbeni and worship after that in the shrine of Lord Muktinath is heavenly and boon bestowing.
