Located at an altitude of 6189 m, Island peak is an appealing peak inside the Sagarmatha National Park of Khumbu Region which is a famous region when it comes to Himalayas. Island peak is the main climbing peak of Everest Region. It lies in the Imja Valley of eastern Nepal, a few miles away from Mt. Everest. Also known as Imja Tse, this peak has become very popular for experienced trekker and beginner climber. This famous peak offer splendid view of the Imja Valley and spectacular views of the Himalayas in the Khumbu Region including the mighty Everest and Lhotse. Island peak was actually used as a training peak by Edmund Hilary and Sherpa Tenzing in 1953 for Everest Expedition. The same route is being used till now. The main summit of Island peak was first ascended in 1956 by a swiss team.
The name of this peak was given by some members of the British Everest Expedition team in 1953. It is actually due to its physical appearance as it looks like an island in the sea of ice from Dingboche. Also, Island peak can be seen clearly as a pyramid of rock and ice standing at the top of the valley. Island peak is surrounded by sea of glaciers and moraines formed by the gigantic Himalayas of 7000-8000m height. Actually, this Island peak is an extension of the southern ridge of Lhotse Shar. It is dominated by the high walls of Lhotse and Nuptse south to its north and Baruntse to its south offering an explendid highly glaciated west face rising from Lhotse Glacier. This island peak is not so difficult as it is considered as a trekking peak and requires less climbing techniques than other peaks. Even with some basic climbing skills, experienced trekker as well as beginner climbers can approach Island peak and summit the top. Some of the climbing part can be challenging and tough but there will be a pre climbing training where our climbing experts will teach and brief you the route information and its difficult part. Although this peak is not so difficult but it is always better to have some basic climbing skills and some physical fitness for peak climbing. Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu (1,400 m)
We will send you a private vehicle and our office representative at Tribhuwan International Airport to pick you and transfer you to the hotel. He/she will be holding a tag of your name. After meeting him/her at the airport, you will be transferred to the hotel at Thamel Bazar. Thamel is a famous tourist hub of Kathmandu valley. Rooms will be assigned at the hotel. Private vehicle will be sent depending on your group size. We will meet you at the hotel for further consulting and trip overview. During the evening, we will offer you a delicious farewell dinner at a typical Nepali restaurant with some cultural program.

Preparation day at Kathmandu.
On this trip preparation day, our Sherpa guide will meet you at the hotel with his crew. On his assistance, all the essential gears and equipments for the trip will be managed and checked properly. After the trip preparation meeting, you will have half day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. Our guide will take you to some historically, culturally and archealogically rich heritage sites which can let you know more about Kathmandu and its different aspects. Also, you can enjoy chilling time around Thamel bazar during the evening. (Dinner and overnight at the hotel, Kathmandu)
Fly Lukla (40 min); Trek to Phakding (4 hrs).
This day, you will be flying to Lukla which takes around 40 mins to reach there. You will land on one of the iconic airport of the Khumbu region, Tenzing-Hillary Airport. It is located at a small hillside beautifully surrounded by mighty snow capped mountains. During the flight, you will enjoy splendid views of the mountain ranges so make sure you book the window seat. After reaching Lukla, you will meet rest of our crew and then head towards Phakding. You will follow the trails along the Dudh Koshi River. Phakding is situated on the bank of Dudh Koshi River with well built hotels. It will be a short and easy walk of around 3 hrs to reach Phakding.
Rooms will be assigned at Phakding.

Trek Phakding to Namche Bazaar (5-6 hrs).
Today, you will be heading towards Namche Bazar, the main trading center of Khumbu region. It is also considered as the gateway of Everest and the capital of Sherpa. Following the trail along the Dudh Koshi River, you will enjoy beautiful sceneries and pass several beautiful forest of pine and rhododendron. Walking for some hours from Namche, the beautiful view of Mt. Thamserku will cherish you with its mighty appearance. Also, you will enter Sagarmatha National Park on this day, which is one of the high altitude national park of Nepal. It is also enlisted on the UNESCO world's heritage site due to its natural and cultural richness. To reach Namche, trekkers have to cross 5 suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River including the longest Tenzing Hillary Bridge. From the bridge, you will climb some uphills to finally reach Namche Bazar. After reaching Namche, rooms will be assigned and rest of the day, you can rest or enjoy the surrounding. Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar.
We will have an acclimatization day at Namche Bazar located at an altitude of 3,440 m. Acclimatization day are important as we need to balance our body temperature and the surrounding temperature with the gain in altitude. It is also recommended by high professional that acclimatization is necessary before moving further. The main goal of this day is to hike higher during the day and return back at the same altitude i.e. Namche Bazar for the overnight stay.
Acclimatization day can be spent with some exploration around the hotel settlements of Namche Bazar. It is a beautiful village with numerous Sherpa, fellow climbers and trekkers. There are well establised hotels, cafe, restro and bakeries at Namche Bazar where you can enjoy some warm cup of coffee, cappucino or latte with splendid view of Namche Bazar.
Beside that, you can also hike to Syangboche or Khumjung village. You can hike up to the Khumjung monastery and Edmund Hilary School which takes around 5-6 hrs of walk. During your way back, you can visit the local museum of Namche which has preserved various local flora and fauna with some Everest history.

Trek to Tengboche (5-6 hrs).
After an acclimatization day at Namche bazar, this day you will head towards Tengboche which will take around 5.6 hrs of normal walk. Enjoying some great sceneries of the Himalayas, you will reach Phunki crossing some pine forest. From there, you will ascend towards Tengboche village which is well known for its Tengboche monastery. Tengboche monastery is the largest monastery of Khumbu Region. Located on the hilltop, this monastery opens after 3 pm everyday for religious rituals and prayers. Located at an altitude of approx. 3870m, Tengboche village offers 360 panoramic views of the Himalayas with almighty Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and other peaks of Khumbu region.
After reaching Tengboche, rooms will be assigned and then you will join the religious ritual at the monastery. (Dinner and overnight at the hotel, Tengboche)
Trek to Dingboche (5-6 hrs).
Morning at Tengboche village is one of the best moments as you will have glamorous views of the Himalayas. You will attend the early morning prayers at Tengboche village. After the prayer, you can enjoy the scenery and capture some pictures. Then, we head towards today's destination, Dingboche which will take around 5.6 hrs. You will descend to Debuche crossing the Imja River and walking along the beautiful coniferous forest. Then, you will ascend to Pangboche. Here, we will take the upper trail which makes the walk more beautiful with magnificent views of the Himalayas. Arriving at Pangboche, you will visit the Pangboche monastery, greet the monks and then continue the trek. You will climb some uphills and finally reach Dingboche at an altitude of 4,260 m.
Reaching Dingboche, check in at the hotel and rooms will be assigned. (Dinner and overnight at the hotel, Dingboche).
Trek to Chhukung (4 hrs).
Upto Dingboche, we followed the trail to Everest Base Camp. Now, we will leave the EBC trail and head towards Chukkhung. Dingboche is a beautiful settlement from where Island peak looks like an island of sea in the ice. This village offers magnificent views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Cholatse, Ama Dablam and many more. You will walk through the stone walled terrace of Dingboche. Amazing view of the Island peak can be enjoyed from the trails. You will pass Bibre village from where it is just some walk to Chukkung. Located at an altitude of 4,730 m, Chukkhung is a small settlements of local Sherpas. Stunning view of Ama Dablam and Amphu Lapsha can be seen across the valley. Acclimatization day at Chhukung; Hike to Chhukung RI (3-4 hrs).
You will have your second acclimatization day of the trip at Chukkhung village. This day, you will hike up to Chukkung RI which is a peak ridge located about Chukkung. The main goal today is to hike Chukkung RI located at an altitude of 5,546 m and then spend overnight at Chukkung (4730 m). Hike up to Chukkung RI takes around 3-4 hrs of normal hike uphill which offers maginificent panoramic views of the Himalayas. You will spend some quality time at the top and then return back to Chukkung for the overnight stay. (Dinner and overnight at the hotel, Chukkung village)
Trek to Island Peak Base camp (3-4 hrs).
After the second acclimatization day at Chukkung, you will head towards Island peak base camp which will take around 3-4 hrs. Trails up to the base camp is partly steep. Ascending to the south from Chukkung, you will walk below the southern flank of Lhotse Glacier's moraine. Trail after that is not so steep. Our crew member will set up the camp site at the base camp. Then, you will enjoy rest of the day enjoying the scenery around the base camp. (Dinner and overnight at the campsite, Island peak base camp)
Pre-Climb training on Island Peak Base Camp.
We will spend a day at Island Peak Base Camp for the pre-climbing training session. Here, our Sherpa guide will provide you important tips and techniques for Island peak climbing. He will provide training on the necessary climbing gears and equipments, how to handle them and use them properly. This includes boots, cramp on, ice axe, harness, ascender and vice versa. He will also train you to ascend and descend down using the ropes and gears. Please co-operate with our Sherpa guide and listen carefully during the training as it is very important during the whole peak climbing. Prior training are always helpful to boost your confident.

Island peak summit day; back to base camp (10-12 hrs).
This day, you will wake up early around 1 am as this is the summit day of Island Peak. Breakfast will be provided before starting the climb. Afternoon wind are stronger in high altitude places which is the main reason to wake up early and reach the summit before the afternoon. If not summited before the noon, the strong blowing wind can be a challenge during the climb.
Climbers are requested to obey their Sherpa guide's order and follow all his decision. There will be fixed ropes depending on climbing season. If there are no fixed ropes then our leader will do that for the climb. Some parts of the peak may be difficult where our Sherpa guide will help you.
First, you will ascend the rocky side of the trail and then finally to the snow covered trails with your cramp on and ice axe. There are some high crevasses where there are fixed ladder to cross them. Please follow the same trail used by the Sherpa guide to avoid falling down on unknown high crevasses.
Finally reaching the summit of Island peak, we will spend some quality time, chilling and enjoying the memerizing views of the Himalayas. After some quality time, you will return back following the snow covered trail and rocky trails to finally reach the base camp. You will have some celebration on the successful climb of Island peak at the base camp with the Sherpa guide and the crew.

Trek back Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche (5-6 hrs).
After the successful climb of the Island Peak, we will now descend down to Pangboche. There are two option while descending down. You can retrace the same trail and reach Pangboche or you can take a different route, reach Upper Pangboche and then descend down to Pangboche. The oldest Gompa of the khumbu region is situated at Upper Pangboche. Reaching Pangboche, rooms will be assigned.

Trek back to Namche (4-5 hours).
This day, you will descend down to Namche Bazar which will take around 4 to 5 hours of normal walk. You will reach Imja Khola, ascend up to Tengboche and then continue walking along the Dudh Koshi River. After some walk from Sansa village, you will finally reach Namche Bazar, the overnight destination of the day. (Dinner and overnight at the hotel, Namche Bazar)
Trek back to Lukla (6-7 hrs).
Like the other day, this day also you will retrace the whole trail up to Lukla. Today will be the last day of our trek. You will cross all the five suspension bridges over Dudh Koshi River and retrace the trail until you reach Lukla. At Lukla, you will have good celebration time with our crew member as this will be the last day of the 2 week adventure at Khumbu. They will perform some musical program and enjoy the evening together.

Fly back Kathmandu (40 min).
Early morning, you will have your breakfast and head towards the airport for Lukla-Kathmandu flight. Wishing a warm farewell to the crew members, you will leave Lukla and fly back Kathmandu.
On your arrival at Kathmandu, our office representative will pick you up for the hotel transfer. If you want to have some sightseeing tour around Kathmandu then our city guide will take you or if you want to rest at the hotel, you can do that as well.
Farewell dinner, on the successful ending of the trip, will be offered at a typical Nepali restaurant with some cultural programs.

Final departure.
This is the day, you will be returning to your own destination after the adventurous climbing trip in Nepal. Free time until final transfer to the hotel. Our office representative will transfer you to the airport before 3 hours of your flight schedule for airport formalities.

In Nepal, there are two major seasons which are considered prime time for Peak Climbing. These times range from March to May and October to November. During this spring and fall seasons temperatures are moderate and weather tends to be very clear and blue sky. Yela Peak can also attempted during the winter but it is extremely cold and very challenging for the climbers.
Our climbing Sherpa guides are decayed experienced and highly qualified with knowledge of high altitude climbing. Most of our climbers were born in Himalaya and have spent most of their live above the 4000 meters. Our guide are well trained about the technical climbing, customer relationship and responsibilities, altitude sickness, international languages and wilderness First Aid. They are all certified by Nepal Mountaineering Association.
Training in advance can help you greatly. We recommended you to start your journey before you arrive Nepal. Do your everyday exercise, training on steep ground, off trail etc before the trip. This will not only increase your fitness level but also provides you with the knowledge of similar routes and trails. Start your basic training will improve your fitness level and aerobic capacity for altitude climbing.
We also request you to provide us your honest description of relevant experience and current fitness level. Upon we receive, we will review your level and respond you accordingly. About this point if we consider there to be any suggestion then we provide a training support Plan to achieve your goal.
During in Kathmandu: You can enjoy typical Nepali food, different ethnic cuisine like Chinese, continental, Italian and Indian. The breakfast will be provided in Hotel and one farewell dinner will be provided during in Kathmandu.
During the trekking: During in mountain your breakfast and dinner will be provided in same guesthouse where you stay overnight. Lunch will be taken en route to the next destination.
During the climbing: We will cook hygiene and fresh food in our camp and serve you in our dinning tent.
You will be accommodated 3 star hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and best available guesthouse during the trekking and tents while climbing. Most of the teahouse accommodation provide you sharing a bathrooms facilities. For tent accommodation you will be provided foam mattress and toilet will be managed with necessary natural preservation. All our accommodation are twin sharing basis and if you require single room the there will be charge of single supplementary.
