Mera peak is an amazing climbing peak situated inside the Everest region. It is the most beautiful peak and the highest climbing peak of Nepal with an altitude of approx. 6500 m. Offering magnificent landscape of the Khumbu region with panoramic views of the Himalayas, this peak is very popular for climbers. Those who are interested in adventurous activities and wants to challenge themselves are suitable for this peak climbing. It is an adventurous climb which requires some climbing gears and techniques. Also, climbers are required to have good physical condition and fitness. Due to its elevation, the trip is challenging and requires enough acclimatization with the environment. Mera peak climbing trip takes you to the dense forest of rhododendron, pine and to the high pasture land, glacier lakes, high camp and finally to the summit of Mera peak. This climbing trip offers magnificent views of the world’s top highest peak including Mt.Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Kanchenjunga and other various peaks like Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse and vice versa. The best season for this peak climbing trip is Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November).

Mera peak climbing trip starts from Lukla, the gateway of Everest. Firstly, you will arrive to the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. Then, fly towards Lukla with an amazing views of the Himalayas. From Lukla, you will head towards Chhatra Khola passing Paiya, Panggom and Ningsow. From Chhatra khola, you will pass Kothe, Thangnag and finally to Khare. At Khare, you will have some pre climbing training provided by our Sherpa guide. Then, the other day you will move further up to Mera High Camp, stay an overnight and then scale the summit of Mera peak. You will enjoy the summit view from Mera peak and then return back to Lukla via Zatrwa LA pass. The amazing views of the Himalayas and stunning landscape of the highlands can be enjoyed throughout the climbing trip. If you are lucky enough, you will also see some endangered species like red panda, blackbuck, snow leopard, snowcocks, Himalayan Tahr and many more. Also, we have included some acclimatization day and contingency day for the safety of our climbers and success of the trip.

As Mera peak is an adventurous technical climbing peak, climbers are required to have some physical strength and fitness to scale the summit and return back safely. Climbers should also have some information about the climbing gears and equipments such as harness, carabiner, ice axe, rope and vice versa. Also, they should know some climbing techniques such as abseiling, jumaring, rappling/ ascending and descending using the rope. The route from Mera base camp to the summit scale requires more strength and gears techniques.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival at Tribhuwan Int'l Airport, Kathmandu.

On your arrival at Kathmandu, our office representative will be waiting for you. Private vehicle according to your group size will be provided for the hotel transfer. You will drive all the way to your hotel which will be around Thamel, a popular tourist hub of Kathmandu. We will meet you at the hotel for small meeting and follow up. You can spend remaining part of the day taking some rest at the hotel. In the evening, we will enjoy a warm welcome dinner together at a typical Nepali restaurant.

Day 2

Trip preparation day in Kathmandu.

This day will be the preparation day of your climbing trip. Our Sherpa guide will meet you at the hotel where he will list all the necessary climbing gears and equipments for the trip. This is crucial for the safety and successful completion of the trip. If you have no idea on hiring personal equipments, he will assisst you on that as well. After that, if you have some remaining time then you will have some sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley with our city guide or you can explore around Thamel Bazar.

Day 3 

Fly Lukla; Trek to Paiya (Trek 5 hrs, 8 km)

Early morning, you will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla which is one of the best flights to experience. The Kathmandu-Lukla flight offers amazing views of the Himalayas so make sure you reserve the window seat. Lukla is considered as the gateway to

Everest. You will land on Tenzing-Hilary Airport of Lukla where you will meet some of our crew members and then heads towards Paiya for the overnight. Paiya is approx. 8 kms away from Lukla and takes about 5 hours of normal walk. You will pass beautiful forest and bridge over the Handi Khola. Then, you will pass Surke, ascend across the Chutok LA pass and finally reach Paiya. Paiya is also known as Chutok. Reaching there, you will check in at the hotel and explore around the village for the rest of the day.

Day 4

Trek Paiya to Panggom (Trek 8 hrs, 12 km)

This day, you will have your early breakfast and head towards Panggom which will be today's overnight destination. The trail first descend and then gradually ascend uphills. The trails are slippery and narrow passing dense rhododendron and bamboo forest. You will cross the Kari LA pass (approx. 3145 m) this day. From there, you will descend and reach Panggom.
Reaching Panggom, rooms will be assigned.

Day 5

Trek Panggom to Ningsow (Trek 4 hrs, 7 km)

After breakfast, we will begin the trek. Firstly, you will trek out from Panggom and then cross Panggom LA pass located at an altitude of approx. 3174 m. Then you will ascend uphill towards the north, cross Peseng Kharka Khola and then ascend Peseng Kharka Danda. You will pass Sibuje village this day. Before reaching your overnight destination, you will cross Nongsow stream.
Reaching Ningsow, you will check-in at the hotel and remaining part of the day, you can enjoy the view around the village.

Day 6 

Trek Ningsow to Chhatra Khola (Trek 8 hrs, 12 km).

After an overnight at Ningsow, you will start the trek with some up and down trails and ascend up to Ramailo Danda. The view from Ramailo Danda is stunning. Mera Peak and Salpa looks amazing from this point. From there, you will again walk some ups and downs to enter Makalu Barun National Park. The trail from the starting point of this national park to Chattra Khola is named as Pasang Lhamu trail. Hence, you will walk through the Pasang Lhamu trails to reach the village of Chattra Khola.
Reaching there, rooms will be assigned and rest of the day, you can relax at the hotel.

Day 7

Trek Chhatra Khola to Kothe (Trek 7 hrs, 11 km)

At Chattra Khola, you will have an early breakfast and then walk towards Kothe for the overnight stay. You will walk through the main trail to Mera Peak this day. The trails takes you along the Majhang Khola and then along the Hinku Khola. You will then pass Tashing Ongma, cross Sanu Khola and finally reach Kothe.

Day 8 

Trek Kothe to Thangnag (Trek 4 hrs, 7 km).

After an overnight at Kothe, this day you will head towards Thangnag. You will trek out from the village and walk along the Hinku Khola. You will pass Gandishung which is located at the bank of Hinku Khola. It is also the settlements of herders during the summer season. After that, you will pass an ancient old cave monastery i.e. Lungsumgba monastery. After some walk from the monastery, you will reach Thangnag. Thangnag is actually a herd grazing pastureland which have some teahouses and lodges. Reaching there, you will check-in at the hotel.(Dinner and overnight at the hotel, Thangnag)

Day 9 

Trek to Khare (Trek 3 hrs, 5 km).

This day, you will have a short trek to Khare which will take around 3 hours. Firstly, you will have breakfast at Thangnag and then trek out from there. You will walk through the moraine which leads from the glacier to Dig kharka. This point of the trek offers amazing view of Charpate Himal. You will walk through some glacial trails to finally reach Khare. From Khare, you can enjoy the sutnning northern face of Mera Peak.
Reaching Khare, you can explore around the village and enjoy the spectacular views.

Day 10

Acclimatization day at Khare. Pre-climbing training.

This day will be an acclimatization day at Khare. As Khare is located at an altitude of 5045 m, an acclimatization day should be included in the itinerary. The main reason for this day is to balance your body temperature with the surrounding. Also, our Sherpa Guide will provide you some important information for the climbing day and the routes. He will also organize a pre-climbing training which includes the proper use of gears and equipments like ice axe, boots, crampons and vice versa. Beside that, you will also learn to ascend, descend, rappling, abseiling and jumaring taught by our Sherpa Guide. This is an important part of the trip so please co operate with our Sherpa Guide.

Day 11

Trek Khare to Mera High Camp (Trek 8 hrs).

After an early breakfast at Khare, you will leave the village and walk towards Mera Peak base camp. You will ascend steep uphills to reach there. From the base camp, you will continue walking towards Mera LA pass, cross it and finally reach Mera High Camp. The trail this day is rocky, rough and gradual uphills. It will be more difficult if there are snow on the trails. Our Sherpa guide will lead the way upto the high camp so please follow his lead as there will be number of crevasses.

Reaching high camp, our crew members will set up the camp and then you can relax enjoying panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Baruntse and many more.

Day 12

Mera Peak High Camp - Summit - Trek back to Khare.

Today is the day you will be scaling the summit of Mera peak, the highest and one of the beautiful peaks of Nepal, with an altitude approx. 6500 m. This day, you will wake up early morning at 2 am as it is the summit day. Early morning approach is necessary because the wind is strong and harsh during the evening time at highlands. After breakfast at the campsite, you will start ascending uphill. Enjoying the first sunray hitting the peaks can be an amazing moment of your lifetime. There are fixed ropes upto the summit. Our sherpa guide will guide you upto the summit leading the way and fixing ropes when required. After around 5 hrs of uphill through the rocky and snowy trail, you will finally reach the summit. The summit view offers amazing 360 views of the mountain peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Nuptse, Baruntse and other peaks. You will enjoy the summit view, spend some chilling time at the summit and then retrace you way back to the high camp. Reaching high camp, you will take some rest while our crew member pack up the camps. Then, you will head towards Khare retracing the trails for the overnight stay. At Khare, you will be celebrating successful summit scale of Mera Peak with our Sherpa guide and the crew members.

Day 13

Contingency day at Khare.

For the successful scale of the summit, we have reserved a contigency day in the itinerary. This day is important as there is no any guarantee of the weather or any other hindrances. If things go as planned then we don't need this reserved day.

Day 14

Trek back to Kothe.

After an overnight stay at Khare, you will trek back to Kothe retracing the trails. It will be a total walk of 4-5 hours normally. Reaching Kothe, you will check-in at the hotel and take some rest.

Day 15

Trek Kothe to Thuli Kharka.

After an early breakfst at Kothe, you will head towards Thuli Kharka for the overnight stay. Thuli Kharka is located at an altitude of approx. 4300 m. There are many ups and downs during the trek this day. You will cross various bridges over the tributaries of Inkhu khola. During the trek, you will pass various small chorten and stupas. After some downhill and uphill climbing, you will finally reach Thuli Kharka where rooms will be assigned. Remaining part of the day, you can simply enjoy the scenery and village lifestyle.

Day 16

Trek Thuli Kharka to Lukla via Zatrwa LA pass.

After an overnight stay at Thuli Kharka, you will head towards Lukla. This is the last day of the trek. Breakfast will be provided at Thuli kharka. After that, you will start the trek. This day, you will cross Zatrwa LA pass located at an altitude of approx. 4600 m. The pass offers magnificent view of Lukla and the surrounding mountain peaks. You will descend down to Chutang and finally reach Lukla for the night stay. Reaching Lukla, you can relax at the hotel strechting those sore legs.

Day 17

Fly back to Kathmandu.

Early morning, you will fly Kathmandu from Lukla enjoying the scenic mountains for the last time. You will greet goodbye to our crew member and fly Kathmandu. On your arrival at Kathmandu, our office representative will transfer you to the hotel. If you are interested then you can have some sightseeing tour around the UNESCO world's heritage site of Kathmandu with our city guide.

During the evening, we will celebrate your successful summit of Mera Peak enjoying some local Nepali cuisine around Thamel.

Day 18

Final departure.

This day, you will return to your own country. You are free to do shopping and explore around the market until final transfer to the Tribhuwan International Airport. Our office representative will drop you at the airport around 3 hrs before you flight schedule for airport formalities. Safe flight.

FAQ

When is the best time for Nepal Peak Climbing?

In Nepal, there are two major seasons which are considered prime time for Peak Climbing. These times range from March to May and October to November. During this spring and fall seasons temperatures are moderate and weather tends to be very clear and blue sky. Yela Peak can also attempted during the winter but it is extremely cold and very challenging for the climbers.

Who is the leader ?

Our climbing Sherpa guides are decayed experienced and highly qualified with knowledge of high altitude climbing. Most of our climbers were born in Himalaya and have spent most of their live above the 4000 meters. Our guide are well trained about the technical climbing, customer relationship and responsibilities, altitude sickness, international languages and wilderness First Aid. They are all certified by Nepal Mountaineering Association.

What skill and fitness level are required ?

Lobuche Peak is consider a technical peak with mixed climbing, although many people start this peak for their first Himalayan peak. Training in advance can help you greatly. We recommended you to start your journey before you arrive Nepal. Do your everyday exercise, training on steep ground, off trail etc before the trip. This will not only increase your fitness level but also provides you with the knowledge of similar routes and trails. Start your basic training will improve your fitness level and aerobic capacity for altitude climbing.

We also request you to provide us your honest description of relevant experience and current fitness level. Upon we receive,  we will review your level and respond you accordingly. About this point if we consider there to be any suggestion then we provide a training support Plan to achieve your goal.

What about the meals?

During in Kathmandu: You can enjoy typical Nepali food, different ethnic cuisine like Chinese, continental, Italian and Indian. The breakfast will be provided in Hotel and one farewell dinner will be provided during in Kathmandu.

During the trekking: During in mountain your breakfast and dinner will be provided in same guesthouse where you stay overnight. Lunch will be taken en route to the next destination.

During the climbing: We will cook hygiene and fresh food in our camp and serve you in our dinning tent.

What about the accommodation ?

You will be accommodated 3 star hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and best available guesthouse during the trekking and tents while climbing. Most of the teahouse accommodation provide you sharing a bathrooms facilities. For tent accommodation you will be provided foam mattress and toilet will be managed with necessary natural preservation. All our accommodation are twin sharing basis and if you require single room the there will be charge of single supplementary.
